It starts kinda slow but stick with it. It does get pretty engrossing.

Any reason to buy guns yet (or ever?) I’m in Chapter 2 and I have the revolver, carbine repeater, regular double barrel, sawed off shotgun, bow, throwing knife, and regular knife. Maybe a rifle for long range?

Nope. You'll pick up pretty much everything you need, or a mission will require you to buy it (usually paid for).

You don't actually need to donate the money for upgrades. If the camp funds don't cover the upgrades it just takes it from you. At least as far as I remember.

So I guess I should just save my money for now? I have about $160.

You get kind of rich later on. I have several grand on my Arthur.

At first I spent every cent I had on upgrades. Also be sure to buy the upgraded bandolier, holsters, etc from a gunsmith.

I would also recommend doing some legendary hunts and crafting the trinkets and what once you unlock the fence. They grant some pretty great stat boosts.

I loved it. Not as much as first. Still enjoyed story though.

I'm on my second play through and the only gun I've bought was the Varmint Rifle to go chase pelts. This game is still great through the second play through. I admittedly blew through the missions on the first run and missed a lot of the extra stuff. I can take my time on this one and do a lot of side missions and look for the cool cutscenes.

I've got a game file saved from my initial play through right after I did the "gold bar glitch". After reading through this thread I'm going to have to load it up and go full black hat this time

Yeah.

If you're already at the point where you can buy guns, you can also go back in to the mountains and break the White Arabian horse. It's one of the best horses in the game, certainly the best you get for free.

You'll get a bounty placed on you and if the bounty gets high enough and you don't pay it, bounty hunters will hound the frick out of you.

Committed my first unintentional murder. Tried to intimidate a witness who saw me collecting a debt but I accidentally killed him I think I got away though because it said wanted but then it slowly faded away.

Even playing the good Arthur, I didn't pay off my bounties, so I had pretty hefty bounties on me the whole time and it got worse when I did the Bandit challenge I couldn't even go fishing in peace
