Technically wasn’t that all painted Verso? The real verso was basically a slave keeping it all going right?

Real Verso died before the start of the game. He died trying to save Alicia from the fire at the Manor. But yes, Painted Verso is a bitch, which is why I had no problem picking Maelle's ending

Don't forget he also forced Esquie to be quiet about who he really was.
a-hole.

I understand why you feel that way, the game itself conditions you to want to accept maelles ending as the good ending. I also think it’s important but very subtle in the final convo with real Renoir before the final boss he treats Sciele and Lune as real people who have real emotions and human will. I have played through it like 6-7 times now and there’s an immense amount of subtlety going on within the game
Still though, the tonal resonance of the two endings cannot be denied. I’m not sure if it was their creative intent or not, but Maelles is definitely presented as the bad ending and Versos the good
I do really like how Maelles ending inverts FFs biggest trope. Instead of killing god what if you are god and take their place? Would the world be a good world? It presents interesting questions
FF13-2 and Lightning Returns made an attempt at this but as much as I love those games it’s much much clumsier

Renoir is the hero of the game. The only one who's motives are completely pure.
One of the best games I've ever played. Got all the achievements and now I'm wondering what to do with my time.

How in the hell did you complete the Gestral wall climbing challenge?
I spent about 5 minutes trying to get to the top and stopped before I burned my whole fricking neighborhood to the ground.

The wall was pretty easy, IMO.
The volleyball game I gave up on.

You really need to use a controller to beat that mini game. I played the entire game with mouse and keyboard until that. Once I switched it only took me a handful of attempts.

Only took me a couple of times on the wall. Volleyball for sure was the hardest for me.

I don’t think Renoir at the end actually relents and gives into Alicia as it appear he does. I think his purpose in showing the effects on his wife to everyone was two told. One is to obviously make clear why he is unwilling to allow her to go through that as well, the other was because he knew even being defeated if painted verso saw that he would enter the heart of the painting or whatever you wish to call it and put an end to it himself.
IMO this is why the game unambiguously depicts his ending has cathartic, hopeful, and tone fully uplifting.
If you see Renoir as the hero of the game, which I think is very solid reading of it although I might not say he’s the hero as in the “protagonist,” this would fall right in line with that

Sandfall said the update was currently in development for all platforms but failed to specify when we might see it. “We hope the update we’re working on will act as a ‘thank you’ to those fans for their support – please be patient while our team work hard on bringing you something worth the wait," said creative director Guillaume Broche.

Really wish they would allow you to fully replay "dungeons" like they did with the ability to fight Simon over and over. I hate having to load an entire previous save just to get a bosses skillset down.
Give us the ability to reload more previous saves, too. On my second playthrough the damn autosave feature saved my game 3 times literally 2 seconds apart from each other so I couldn't reload my ability to go back to fight Renoir a final time.

Finally said to hell with the platinum and went ahead and played the last mission after putting it down for about 6 weeks. I had got burned out trying to grind to level 99 for the achievement. Got to level 90-95 with all characters and put it down for awhile and thought to myself today “I can’t just leave a 10/10 game unbeaten” so I knocked it out tonight. What a brutal choice to make at the end. Went with Verso because it seemed like the more moral choice. I thought the exp members would support it but they all looked pretty damn disappointed in the decision which was a kick in the nuts…that look on Lune’s face….oof.
May circle back down the line and try to beat Simon. I’ve been drawing this thing out for 6 months and am just ready to play something else at this point
Amazing game and a top 5 all time for me

Saw someone on Twitch playing an E33 item/enemy randomizer. That's gotta be wild

It’s insane how much they are building it out for us for free. I have essentially mastered the game on expert after countless runs. I do full glass cannon play throughs and am rarely touched
Been doing challenge runs limiting lumina points per character at a cap, not allowing characters to get certain skills, using weapons I’ve never used before on each character, doing both axons without weakening them first, etc stuff like that. It can be made quite challenging if you want to handicap yourself lol
