Gameplay kinda looks like gears of war.. would that be semi accurate ?

Closer to a Doom/world war z hybrid. There are no cover mechanics, but you do have a dodge with iframes and you are encouraged to continuously fight as executions and parrying enemy attacks restore armor to keep you alive. I mention world war z because the engine it uses is also used in that game which allows the capability of rendering hundreds of kill able enemies in real time.
Here is a multiplayer trailer that shows some of gameplay

It definitely looks like one of the 40K games we've been asking for for years. Next on the list would be something like a MMORPG/ something similar (obviously thats asking for a LOT) or a new/updated Warhammer 40k RTS (ie. new Dawn of War 1).

I got into 40k about 5-6 years ago and have already listened to most of the audiobooks following the horus heresy(including all of the siege of terra) and some of the best books in the horus heresy itself.

I havent gotten into model painting but may soon. Doubt Ill ever get into actually playing the tabletop though - not my jam.

Also, preordered Space Marine 2 - Gold Edition last night LETS GO!

Ah, the reason why I buy the rule book tomes and yet never have any intention to play the non-computer version. They do make for great toilet reading.

From a recent community post. Space Marine 2 is confirmed to not have Denuvo and will use Easy Anti Cheat.

Space Marine 2 early access (for media and certain streamers) has gone live. Review embargo is lifted and the reviews are unanimously positive.

It is also the now the number one wish listed game on steam. The hype train is going full steam. Can’t wait to play tomorrow.

The campaign and PvE missions can all be done solo or Co-op with two other people. If you play solo, you will be accompanied by 2 bots to fill out the squad. If you want to play with people for the PVE missions, there is matchmaking for that as well if you don't have friends to play with.

There is no bot option for PvP.

Do you have to play the opening mission to get to start operations, pvp, etc?

Booted it up this AM before work just to see what it looked like but didnt get to start teh main first mission. Didnt see anything in the main menu other than to start the campaign and settings

From what I am hearing, you have to play the intro campaign mission because it acts as a tutorial. Once that is completed though I am not sure if you can jump into the operations or PVP right away or if you have to complete the campaign first.

Yes. You unlock the main hub/menu after that. It looks like some other quick missions are available after you beat the campaign.

I am a few missions in and the hardest difficulty is actually pretty hard solo. You get cheesed down by range attacks. Gonna run through it on normal first for my own sanity.

I have been playing co-op with friends on veteran difficulty and some of the encounters are pretty hard/intense.

I am really loving the gameplay. You feel like an absolute unstoppable beast when you are in the flow mowing and cleaving down so many nids.

I wouldn’t buy it just to play early if that is the final deciding factor.

If you’re a solo player your AI teammates absolutely blow arse. The combat overall is fun but playing solo it doesn’t feel like a dark souls type challenge but a cheese the game engine type challenge. That is very frustrating. Overall its a fun game so far though.

finished up the campaign earlier this evening, admittedly I'm a big 40k fan, but it thought it was great - some spectacular visuals and scenes, big epic fights etc - looking forward to doing some coop campaigns with friends and well as the operations.
