but just about every PS exclusive worth owning the console for is no longer.

That’s a false hyperbolic position. The titles and IPs are still I’d say in large part massively popular and well earned. The issue is the lack of big wanted titles (FF7 remake 3 Ff 16 god of war) on launch and how anything anyone would want bigly is 95% as perfect on PS4 pro

How is Sony going to catch up without killing their bottom line?
Catch up to what?
For 2020-2021, the Xbox Gaming Division reported $15.67 billion in revenue.
For that same time period, Playstation reported $25.03 billion in revenue.
If you add in Activision/Blizzard's revenue to Xbox's, it still falls short of Playstation's.
I think you're overestimating the importance of cloud gaming. Stadia's complete and total failure is a strong indication that people maybe aren't too interested in playing games with stuttering, compression, artifacts, and input lag.
Sony has about ten AAA live service games in the works as well, including new multiplayer live service titles from Bungie, Naughty Dog, Guerilla Games, Haven, and Firewalk Studios. I think they have a pretty good grasp on where things are trending in the industry.

So you are telling me the company with more consoles sold, has more revenue
The number gets much closer when profit is looked at, in fact I believe Nintendo is the leader on profit.

So what is their plan for the future? Keep doing the same thing, that always seems to work out

Sell consoles, games, and subscriptions? Same game plan as Microsoft?
I'm honestly not sure what you're trying to argue. It seems that you feel as if Game Pass and cloud gaming are some kid of gaming utopia and that Sony and Nintendo are going to completely fail because they're not adhering to that specific model.
Game Pass works for Microsoft because they have very few franchises that sell 10+ million copies per entry. Nintendo and Sony aren't about to start Game Pass competitors and put their first party games on that service on day one and forfeit hundreds of millions of dollars.
It's the same reason why big films like Doctor Strange or Spider-Man aren't available on Disney+ on day one - because Disney would be forfeiting hundreds of millions of dollars.
And even then, Playstation Plus is getting an upgrade this summer that will see PS first party games appear on the service after a set period of time, along with hundreds of previous games across all previous consoles. And Sony's first party games continue to make their way to PC.
They're doing plenty to modify their approach.

The Xbox controller has been the best controller since the 360
Ergonomically maybe. Build quality though? The XBone controllers are fragile pieces of shite. Between my brother and I we went through 6 and every single one needed something to get fixed at some point w/at least one shoulder bumper and thumb stick breaking on 5 of the 6. The 6th the D-pad and a thumb stick went bad. Most of my friends had issues w/their XBone controllers too.
The only other controller I ever had break on me through normal use was a MadKatz PS2 controller.
I haven't had to deal w/any drift issues w/my Switch JoyCons either though to be fair I mostly use an 8BitDo controller for that system.

Look dude I’m a Sony fan boy. Have always hated Xbox their controllers suck. And other reasons but there is no doubt Sony was once the name that meant innovation. They lost that dude. They’re more worried about hardware. Xbox has been the innovators for years buying up studios cutting into a Sony lifeline of either exclusive or timed one. They are very likely taking a net floss on game pass currently but they know it’s the future. Sony’s attempts to replicate have come far to late and been way to lazy like a kid had do do their homework because their brother had to

I didn’t see this before what I just posted above but even if it’s hyperbole by a moron it’s got a lot of truth. Sony’s main revenue has been their hardware and very strong 60$ game’s. Those days are dying

What do you people do to your controllers? I have never had a single controller break or fail on me going back to my Atari 2600

Given I haven’t owned an xbox since like middle school but I’ve have PlayStation’s all my life. I love the design and feel but ps4 controllers had the shittiest shelf life ever

Naw it’s like politics with the consoles no ones mind can change with reality. They think it’s still Sony of the time around ps4 launch. And again, huge playstison guy I hate Xbox. But they’ve essentially swapped what each name meant 7 years ago.

I just have to point out how dated this thinking is like you can accept the landscape shifted. Microsoft has bought the 2nd most studios and publisher the last 2–4 years killing Sony’s major draw.

Then make you own decision. Nothing matters as long as you are happy with what you got.
Microsoft shot itself in the foot bigly with the XB1 launch. They had a 2 to 1 lead in the US over Playstation at the end of the Xbox 360 era (globally it was roughly even). All PS4 had to do was "do the same thing Sony always did" to succeed against the XB1 launch, and it worked. Some of the people I played with the most switched to PS4. I bought one but it didn't really stick.
Xbox doesn't seem to be overly concerned with being in 2nd place. Neither am I. They have the games I want to play (especially with the Bethesda aquisition), Game Pass is a nice set up, and I continue to find the xbox eco system easier to live with. Actually bought a Series S for a second room--that thing is a steal.
I may pick up a PS5 "slim" down the road for the exclusives. But I doubt it.

I don't do anything bad to them. The XBone controllers just sucked build wise. Its not like I throw them or play insanely intense stuff all day. I mostly played Friday the 13th, Left 4 Dead 2, and Zombie Army 4 on my XBox1. Those aren't exactly button mashers that should kill my controllers but they did anyway.
