So I started playing TLoU 2…

I’ll start off by saying…loved the first one. It’s one of the GOATS. I refused to pay for the second one. I know what happens at the end and all that jazz..
I really wanted to dive into the game, pushing all the memes aside and really formulate my own opinion.
I boot up and I’m welcomed by the amazing memory of what happened at the hospital. Joel being vulnerable with Tommy and Tommy being the bro that he is. I see Joel being vulnerable with Ellie. Pretty solid start after what like 10-20mins…
Then 4 years later….Ellie is immediately being woke up by a guy she’s completely cucked. He’s cool with it.
What happened? Oh, his girl just kissed Ellie….prompting someone to say the worst thing ever..I can only imagine it was the word “gay” or something along those lines. We don’t have the balls to say it but we sure have the balls to have Ellie call him a “bigot”.
Okay okay…whatever. Not really a deal breaker but it’s like we get it…Ellie is a lesbian. A lesbian…living in a zombie apocalypse. Cool. A struggle upon a struggle.
Not long after a snowball fight with my lover and some children. I finally get to go make my runs! What fun awaits?
A hidden weed farm and two stoned lesbians munching each other hemp. During the zombie apocalypse.
I feel like everything so far has been absolutely necessary for the plot and the plots setting….but I feel like it’s missing something…then good ole naughty dog …does what they do best….
They give me Abby. Abby…so special…neither man nor woman. I wonder if she was created by her father in a lab. I really liked having to play with Abby. I never had to use any ammo. I just pummeled everything with Abby’s brute fist. I really liked this change in gameplay.
I really loved how Joel and Tommy saved Abby. Then how she returned the favor with a shotgun to the knee. My guy just reduced to nothing at the hands of…Abby. No fight. Nothing. Just…a shotgun to the knee and a 7iron to the face….
That’s where I’m at…I think I am over it at this point…which is sad because the gameplay has been phenomenal.
The whole sequence of Abby running and getting saved by Joel and Tommy was great. fricking great.
If I pick it up and play again it will only be for the gameplay. Otherwise, it’s been really disappointing.

that's where i left off at the show after playing a full playthrough of the game.
the rest of it isn't bad.
minor spoiler with no details:
next, you'll play as ellie until a specific point of the plot and then it flips you around where you play as abby in a flash back up until the same spot where it left you with ellie. you do get a tranny sidekick while playing as abby at some point, but if you ignore their backstory conversation it's not that bad.
then you play as ellie to finish off the game.
i honestly feel like you've already endured the "bad" parts...
the rest of it isn't bad.

As far as gameplay, it has some of the best stealth combat in the genre. If.that is your bag, you will enjoy should get some entertainment out of it even if you arent a fan of the story

All true and I agree with your premise. I went into part 2 knowing nothing...no memes, no spoilers, so yes, i was in a bit of a shock.
If you can ignore parts the story, which is a tall task because the story is a large part of the charm of the 1st game, the gameplay is on point with the 1st. Adult Ellie is a fun ride.

I agree. My issues aren’t really with her or her sexuality at all. In fact I know how the story ends and who Abby is etc. That’s a good plot…a great plot…just not a fan of how they have gone about it so far. Just seems a bit unnecessary.
Joel dying isn’t bad. It’s when and how he died. The person who killed Joel is necessary and has a reason to do so…great…it’s just who they created to be that person is…not so great.
It’s like dudes yall were sitting on a good premise…why make it weird.

It's a really poorly paced game, so get ready for that. Every single section goes on about 50% longer than is should

Played some more tonight. Got to Seattle and did some exploring.
No complaints tonight. It’s the remaster version and it’s a beautiful game. I like how they had little side quest or whatever. Got jump scared once which is always a plus.
Feel like finch is right with his assessment that much of the meh is over with.
I’ll just have fun exploring.

Yep, OP made it past the parts that piss people off. It has it's strangeness but it's fun smashing people in that game.
I agree with the pacing though. Some areas are just stretched out unnecessarily. I might have to replay it now that it's free.

Play the new final fantasy 7, by god the pacing become spectacular in there 
But yea, some parts of it are slow. I'll probably play it again at some point

I couldn't stomach finishing this one but "bigot sandwiches" will forever be the most unintentionally funny thing I've ever heard in a video game. I can't believe they think that hits

Listening to Ellie and her chick talk about becoming farmers and growing old together while riding around post apocalyptic Seattle….really fits the vibe.

Just found a gay pride flag in a book store and the rainbow strips painted on the street…that look oddly fresh compared to its surroundings.
It’s offical…I have seen enough and feel comfortable saying…this game is actually gay as frick.
