You can plug an old Xbox 360 controller into your PC and get a plugin that'll allow you to use it on the PC.
well damn. guess I'll be making the switch to the pc version sooner than I expected.
wish my work in minecraft would carry over to different devices :(

Can anyone host a server? Are they permanent servers or based on if you playing at time?

You have to keep the server computer running at all time using your internet connection and give out your server info to everyone you invite. Or just run it when you want the server up.
You can also rent them.
I could easily run one, but not really a fan of giving out my home server details to this board.
Renting one with a lot of ram for a modded server is ridiculously expensive.
I might rent one if enough people are interested and set it up with less dimensional/space race stuff to try and prevent the need for a lot of ram. Anyone have a teamspeak or similar server we could use for it?

I think I may have access to a small dedicated box. Should be enough to support a decent number of people without getting too laggy. Gonna reduce the modpack and try to get rid of some known lag mods to support more people.

I tried running minecraft on my pc earlier today and I didn't really care for it. not a fan of going from playing on my 60" tv with my xbone to playing on my much smaller computer screen. and yes I realize I could hook my pc up to my tv to play on it but that's a pretty big hassle.
also I worked it to where I could play with my xbox 360 controller, but it was way too sensitive when trying to select items in my inventory or crafting. dialed back the sensitivity but that only affects your characters viewing speed. looks like I'll have to play with mouse and keyboard.
also not having a list of items shown that it takes to craft something is a pain in the arse. overall it's just a lot more hassle to play on my pc vs playing on my xbox. guess I'm gonna stick with playing on my xbox one for awhile longer at least until I have a better grasp on what it takes to craft different things.

Ok so I got it. I have played it on xbox so I'm familiar. I start the game. Questions:
1. Is there not a server list for mine craft games hosted from everywhere?
2. There aren't recipes in this game? How the Frick am I supposed to remember the crafting stuff?

Hawg, you need to play with NEI, it gives you a massive searchable list that you can hover your mouse on and press r to get the recipe. Edit: lol Texas beat me to it.
PC is extremely better and has better ways of doing things. Give me time to set up the modded server to change your mind. Got access to it just a few minutess ago, so maybe will have it running tomorrow.
