Getting it on Steam tomorrow. It’s been a great year already for Square fans on PC. Secret of Mana and FF XII on Steam this month, FF XV next month.

As much as I want to play this, I will wait until it's NOT $40.

What is the difference in this and the Sword of Mana remaster that's already out on mobile and PSVita?

They look exactly the same.

This sentence seems to have a lot of confusion going on.

Sword of Mana was a Gameboy game and it was only on the GBA and never released again as far as I know.

Secret of Mana was a Snes game.
A port of the original game was released on IOS and android.

This is a Secret of Mana Remaster. The Sprites are in 3D and it does not look exactly the same.

Here is images to compare. I actually prefer the old sprites.

It's "Adventures of Mana" on the Vita. The Secret of Mana Remaster looks to be in the exact same style.

I see, the art and graphics do look the same in that game. I have actually never heard of it. They may have used the same art team. But no, that is an entirely different game. Secret of Mana is known as one of the best RPGS of it's time. A classic.

Yeah it's steep. I got it off Green Man Gaming for ~31. Still kind of overpriced but I've been dying for this game.

I realize that. I'm just saying that people are getting hyped for what is essentially a mobile phone port

I'll get when it goes on sale. I wish they would make a Secret of Evermore Remaster. I always liked SoE better.

Don't see how you can come to that conclusion. People are excited to play one of their favorite games from childhood again. Nobody is excited about the graphics. You are probably a bit younger but if you are 30 or older this game is big for nostalgia reasons. It was a great game and the OST is top notch.

My best friend and I growing up played the HELL of this on SNES. It's one of the few co-op RPG's of that time that is worth a damn and was a great game that just happened to have simultaneous co-op and it was done perfect.

I can see me and my kids now (my oldest is close to the age I was when this came out) playing through the whole thing together again. Really a great game.

That said, it's getting HAMMERED in reviews online. I just read 2-3 of the main sites and they are trashing it.

Said it breaks some of the basic systems (menus don't remember last choice, and only come up in the middle of the screen instead of top of character) and the soundtrack being mangled.

Multiplayer is there but the art direction gets hammered too, replacing the charming sprites with polygons.

I'm still going to give it a chance I think.

I love SOM and the soundtrack is greatness but the remastered SOM OST they made for this version sounds like shite IMO.

There is an option to use the original soundtrack.
I am not a fan of the art style either, I think I brought that up here on the reveal thread.
I may buy it during a sell one day, but I would rather play the snes version.

You can use the old soundtrack. Just like on the FF10 HD remake.

That's not really a feather in the game's cap that the new soundtrack is so poorly done most would rather switch it back to the old one. I've heard really great orchestral versions of it so for them to screw it up is weird.

Here’s my honest review of the game. I got what I wanted out of the game (what I’ve played so far) and it seems to me a lot of people were expecting a REMAKE and not a REMASTER. The general population seems to not know the difference between the two and while there are “remade” parts in the game, the game in and of itself has not received a treatment akin to that of say Pokémon alpha sapphire and omega ruby.

There are parts where the soundtrack is great and other parts where it is completely horrid, most notably in the boss theme. But I grew up playing this with my brother which I still play with in this remake and I have just as much fun. Maybe that’s the reason why I still love it, but others will still shite on it.

I love it and it is just what I expected. Voice acting is great as well. Like I said, I play entirely coop with my brother so, maybe my experience and review is a bit skewed but tifwiw.
