Sucks to lose a local owned business
I had never been, but just because a store has a brand name does not mean it isnt locally owned. People buy the rts to franchise these corporate stores. They are usually owned by someone or a group that is local. They employ the locals, the guys that deliver the things they sell are local, the cleaning company they hire is local, the electrician is local, the plumber, the fees you pay the city to open, it all goes back to the community. This whole lets not support chain stores is total bullshite.

The reason behind thier closing is horrible. Sony wasn't fulfilling their PS4 orders, so they had to pay back around $15000 to the customers. This led to their closing. Heard it directly from owner/worker. I hate seeing local businesses close, especially since they were so close to my house.

Only went there once, but everything seemed more expensive and they offered me less than what Gameware did for trade-ins.

Play N Trade was way cheaper than Gameware, at least cheaper with retro games. Gameware's retro prices are comical.

Dang, I used to work there when it first opened. Sad to hear it is closing shop. Keith taught me how to repair the consoles. That "technical experience" was a big part of getting me my current job.
to Keith.
I actually worked at the wing stop next door at the same time, lol

No Play N Trade receives PS4 consoles directly from Sony. They all either obtain them through a distributor or retail. Their distributor informs them of their allocations before launch. It would be a poor business practice to take pre-orders before those allocations were known unless their customers were informed that there was no guarantee of getting a console on launch day.
Why would a free loan of $15,000 from PnT customers lead to their demise?

It appears there was a slight rivalry between GameWare and PlayNTrade

Not really. Their location was not close enough to be a direct competitor. It's actually disappointing to see a locally owned business close their doors. It's a challenge competing against the corporate giant known as Gamestop. The PnT owner had to pay a 5% franchise royalty fee for everything they sold making it even more of a challenge to be successful. I wish the owner the best of luck.
