Play n Trade on Bluenonnet @ Burbank is closing. The owner is repairing my laser in my 360 but the place is all but packed up.

Sucks to lose a local owned business

Sorry if Germans

I gave the one on Airline a chance back when I lived there but it was grossly mismanaged. A friend of mine worked there and the store owners prioritized getting copies of Beowulf over Fallout 3 when they were both releasing at the same time. They had 2 dozen Beowulf copies that they ordered and not a single one got sold, and only 1 Fallout 3 copy.

Not surprising. They never had a good relationship with suppliers and publishers, so they were always low or out of stock on new things. I went there to buy a Vita game and memory card a few weeks after it released in the US. They still had never received their initial shipment of the handheld itself.

Talk about betting on the wrong horse! Don't know how many copies Beowulf sold but Fallout 3 is one of the biggest selling RPG games of all time.

Tell me about it, the owners were nice folks but they didn't know shite about games. It was like they were trying to run a gas station with the decisions they made.

I'm pretty sure the guy who I was just talking too actually owns this location I'm at right now. But I can't speak for them all

Everything is in boxes. There are some display game art posters. I saw a Halo and Gears of War.

I didn't see any games but there was an original Genesis behind the counter

That does suck, especially when they fix consoles. Might just be me, but it seems to be harder to find nearby businesses/people who will fix electronics.

Yeah it's hard to find repair guys. I know there is an old man that fixes consoles on Florida Blvd near Flannery. His shop has Mario on in the logo design.

The Play n Trade guy said he will still do repairs but the drop off will be at the "I fix it" store on Airline in Prarieville

Are they closing all locations? There is one in the mall and one on College Drive. Just curious.

This does kinda suck. I never bought anything there (which is probably an indication of one of their problems) but it was always nice to look around and chat with the employees there when I was waiting for my Wingstop order next door.

I was just in there last week killing time. There was no indication I noticed that they were closing down soon.

Yep, the one in my town is a complete shite show too. I walked in to buy my headset, after seeing they had got some in stock a couple of weeks prior. I go in and see they're out of stock(the 2 they had were gone). Asked them when they would be getting more in and the guy told me that they had sent them back to their distributor because no one was buying them. It was a $200 headset, and they expected it to fly off the shelf at a store that served more as a babysitter for tweens. What did they expect? They were more concerned with how many Sega Saturns they could obtain over trying to keep anything that people actually wanted in stock.
