I need a new game to play, I normally just play Madden, but I hate the direction it's been going in the last couple of years. I really enjoy games like far cry assassin's creed, rdr1 & 2 GTA. Im not into space shite or futuristic stuff. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sorry I should have said Xbox.

If you have a PS4 or PS5, Id recommend Mass Effect Legendary edition. It contains ME: 1,2,and 3

If you haven’t played them yet and have PlayStation —
Horizon Zero Dawn (I haven’t played the sequel yet)
Witcher 3
Ghost of Tsushima

+1 for Witcher 3, I think even non-RPG fans can appreciate this masterpiece. You don't need to play the other games to enjoy it.

Fallout 4 is a really good entry point in to the Fallout series if that interests you. If you like that you can go back to New Vegas or Fallout 3 and have a better understanding of how to play or you can move forward to 76 which despite its release is a pretty fun experience.

When I read this post, it reminded me that I wanted to give Fallout 4 another try. So I downloaded and installed it, booted it up... to be reminded that I stopped playing it because it has absolutely shite (read: non-existent) support for ultrawide resolutions. For a AAA game released in 2015, that's fricking absurd. Already uninstalled it again

Yeah, wont get any argument from me on anything Bethesda quality related. But based on the op's list of games/console and (I'm assuming meant) rpg in the header, i think fallout 4 would actually be worth a try. Its more action and linear than the other games in the series while still being an rpg. If they dig more of the rpg element then you got New Vegas you can jump in. Like more of the action/camp building? Go give 76 a try.

I even reinstalled it again and tried a regedit hack. It worked, and then the game CTD five minutes later. Uninstalled it again. Having fiber internet and NVMEs has made me fairly capricious when it comes to installing and uninstalling games these days
To come back to OP, honestly, the "no space/futuristic" and presumably "fantasy" limiter is tough. Lots of really incredible games in those genres. With that said, I would maybe suggest Rise of the Tomb Raider (I didn't like the first Tomb Raider reboot), and maybe the Dishonored series? And if you can handle some measure of fantasy, maybe GreedFall?
But go play the Mass Effect series.

Witcher 3
Baldur's Gate 3 (though technically unfinished)
Greedfall is pretty decent
Skyrim, obviously (get the higher resolution version or mods)
(Also Morrowind and Oblivion, but as those are much older it depends on how much you can stand older-looking games)
Divinity: Original Sin II
Dark Souls franchise
Elden Ring
Dragon Age franchise
Classics:
Planescape: Torment

Oblivion with some basic QOL mods is still my favorite ES game, and potato head haters can eat a dick

They're both amazingly fun games; I just know that if you didn't grow up with those graphics they can be rough to get around.
I haven't seen if any of those can be modded for higher end textures.

Both can be modded, graphically and otherwise, beyond recognition.

I’m replaying kingdom come deliverance (aka peasant simulator) right now and having fun. Haven’t played it since it came out pre-dlc. It isn’t for everyone and the hardcore mode is fricking insane where you’ll die a few times before even getting a chance to play.
But holy shite the developers hit 1400s Bohemia on the head. The second game should be revealed soon as they have had a few leaks like a casting studio propping up a voice actor for the game and some other chatter from the devs
