Reset Era (suspect) leaks regarding FF9 Remake

I despise the website and the wannabe journo elite class who use it but this poster has been consistent. Claiming its still 2 or more years away from even a trailer, will be a ps5 exclusive, and will be much more than a simple visual overhaul for the original or a remake in the vein of secret of mana. He/she posits/reports itll be a remake akin to 7 but a different more high fantasy less photo realism and try to evoke the original goal of the creator of the entire FF franchise when making 9 and that was bringing it back to high fantast and less obvious edge (although vivi is the saddest FF character ever made)
So FF fans is this something you want? FF9 using a battle system im assuming akin to 7 remake but with a different art style and likely 3 parts thatll take them 10 years to make?

I hate reset era so didnt wanna link to them.
It being in production isnt rumor or speculation. it is coming. To what platforms and what form it will take is the discussion.
I only think its a loss if they put them out at the pace 7 remake is taking

The rumor is the stuff about how long before a trailer, platform exclusive, style of remake. I can find you solid info its being made if you want but it isnt hard to get.

I can think of 2 reasons
1. They have just done substantial work remastering ff6
2. The structure of the game the mass party of characters the way you can take or leave more than half after the collapse of the world isnt a very easy game to make into a trilogy whereas id argue ff9 is the easiest of any game theyve ever made to make into one. Also FF9 is way more popular than people think and I believe square know if they expose a modern version of the powerful story it tells to the masses itll spin off into another multi million seller like 7 remake

This is the last I’m going to respond to this because there obviously isn’t anything definitive or confirmed.
Yeah I saw that article and it’s chock full of rumors and speculation. They also start the article off with “Final Fantasy IX is objectively the best game in the Final Fantasy franchise.”
I’m pretty sure you’ve brought that GeForce leak up here before and your claim that they’ve nailed all predictions is flat out false at this point. It’s also full of a ton of easy predictions like street fighter 6 and the like.
My thing about a 9 remake is, I just don’t see many people asking for it. 7 had people screaming for a remake for years ever since that ps3 tech demo back in like 2007. I loved FF9 and would love a remake in the vein of FF7 but I think I'll be in the nursing home at the rate they are releasing these games. Does the next FF7 have a release date in this decade yet?

I could see a FF9 remake being relatively easy to make. It is the most linear of the original PSX Final Fantasy games.
It is my favorite Final Fantasy. That said, I do not believe this game has the fanbase to milk an episodic release ala FF7 Remake, so I hope they just release the entire story in one package.

You are seriously underestimating the popularity of 9. It has only grown with time as it holds up better than the others. (outside of it's slower game play)
Besides 7, I would imagine it has the strongest backing of the single digit FF mainline games.
With that said. It is unlikely it is a remake in the vein of FF7. It will be smaller in scale, if I had to guess and less of a story change.

Youre the only rival on this board I actually enjoy. Its not flat out false rofl. Name one game the Gforce leak hasnt gotten right? There are some that havent been released (very few) but not one single game they leaked out of a pretty substantial list crossing many studios wasnt being made or planned to be made. I can think of 1 that was confirmed to have been in production but cancelled and thats it. So prove your point my man. Also using "Muh they guessed an easy game with street fighter 6" is a dumb as hell way to dismiss the most successful video game leak in history. It was on the freaking list so ofc they used it.

I never had the chance to complete FF9 since my copy of the game always glitched out during a certain cutscene.

Square should just become a Sony first party studio at this point imo. IT would only serve to make their games better by increased funding and support and change almost nothing in actuality except removing the table scraps they happen to toss to xbox
