Does anyone have any experience or recommendations on installing an internal SSD in a PS5? What brands to go with, what size you have/recommend, etc...

Thanks!

I bought the WD_BLACK 1TB SN850 NVMe Internal Gaming SSD Solid State Drive with Heatsink.

I'm not very handy with these sorts of things and it took me like 5min to install it. Couldn't be easier.

I followed the instructions in this video from PlayStation Support: LINK

But it looks like they have an updated video here: LINK

Thanks for the videos! I see you only got a 1TB drive. Do you feel that was too small? Do you wish you would have gotten a larger one?

How realistic is it that you'll be actively playing more than 1.67TB's worth of games at a time?

If there's a possibility splurge for the 2TB.

No problem!

Getting 1TB of additional space was a good size for me based on the types of games I play.

I leave all FromSoft games installed because I love randomly jumping back into those (and they're not very big), and then I install additional games as I play them and then delete them once I'm done (while retaining the save data). I have plenty of extra space on the internal drive and on the additional 1TB SSD I installed, so I haven't regretted going with the 1TB SSD.

If you're constantly switching back and forth between games that are like 75+ GBs, and you don't like having to delete and redownload games, then getting a 2TB is probably better for you.

I just went for the 1TB WD Black as well. Amazon has it for about $130, with the 2TB being over $300. The doubled storage for over double the price wasn't doing it for me.

Keep in mind, you can also get an external if you find the 1TB isn't enough.

I went with the Gigabte Aorus 7000s 1TB and I'm happy with it. I have a separate external drive for PS4 games. Installing the SSD was pretty straightforward and didn't take long at all.

Well, hell. I literally just bought it at $130. Mine is scheduled for Friday delivery though so I guess I'll just chalk it up to expedited shipping.

I bought the 2 TB drive when first available. I wasted money. A lot. That thing cost as much as the PS5 at the time. I have a few PS4 games on it too and I've barely crossed .5 TB. I have 70GB available on my imbedded drive. I'm talking COD:Cold War, Destiny 2, NFS Heat, The Division 2, Ghost of Tsushima and some smaller ones.
