PS4 game recommendations for son and I....

My son has PS4 but I'm not a gamer much. He plays all the online ones - call of duty, etc.
What is a good game we can play together - I guess split screen, not online, but just have missions we complete together?

I'd google content on any of these games (Diablo 3 and Borderlands in particular) to see if that's something you want your son to play. But these are the highly recommended couch co-op games for the PS4

Another good one. Not my cup of tea, but extremely popular game.

Not sure what type of games you want to play but some great local co-op games are.
Rayman Legends (Platformer)
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (FPS/RPG)
Rocket League (arcade style car soccer game)
Divinity: Original Sin (RPG)
Lots of Indy games.

New game that just came out this past month: Disc Jam.
You and your son can play couch co op doubles. Its like playing air hockey with a frisbee. It really is a lot of fun.

I have two sons younger than yours, we really had alot of fun playing Terraria together. It also a bit of a throwback to games from our time! 2d side scroll for the win.
