Trying to get away from sodas, so might not go with that. Rum and coke was my thing, though.

I love sugar way too much. Big thing I need to curb in my diet. Plus until recently, soda was my morning pick-me-up. I've just become a coffee drinker, so that's a big step.

Try it with tea, then. Fresh tea or some of the diet Arizona tea would work fine.

If you like sipping liquors without a mixer, then just use lemon juice. This is easy sic.

I actually use coke zero as a mixer FWIW

Was over at a friend's and everyone was drinking wine (hate the stuff), and he asked if I wanted something else. Had whiskey, and I want to say it was Makers. I was tempted, but knew I was in over my head and didn't want to embarrass myself.

No. Not 18. My FIL, in his 60's, a retired Army Colonel, has never been a coffee drinker.

I come from a family of coffee drinkers, it was only a matter of time for me.

That's the one soda in cool with drinking, but I've heard even that has a lot of sodium.

It does but I never watch my sodium really. it just depends on what you need.

Blanton's is a good start. It's a little pricey, but not crazy. Splash of water or just 3 ice cubes and let it sit.

Im working on a bottle of Makers 46 right now. Not bad, but depends what you like. Smokey with a hint of oak? Caramel with a smoke flavor? You can go any way with wiskey. I usually pair mine with a cigar, so I usually try to find something that matches the cigar.

A_Bomb - had my first mud bug today....King Cake. Not bad, but not my cup of beer. Havig one now and again wouldn't be bad, but I can't see drinking it for a session

The King Cake is a one or two and done type of beer. It's not super sweet, but it's good. The Cafe au Lait is greatness and I'd tear down a sixer of that if I could.

That wasn't bad either. We were at Peppers, so I got the King Cake to sip while waiting on food. I'm not big on my beer tasting like cofee though

I know there's more out there than Abita Amber, but it's tough for me to drink anything else when it's available

What category of beer would abita amber be considered? Is Amber a category?

Pretty much everyone around Lafayette will ship them if you call and order. I'm sure plenty in Baton Rouge will as well. Get on the horn.
