My cousin's husband and a few of his buds opened a brewery in Thibodaux called Mudbug Brewery. Two of their beers are the King Cake Ale and the Cafe Au Lait Coffee Milk Stout. Both of them are really good and I was surprised at how tasty the Cafe Au Lait one was for them being such a young outfit.

I hate the names of both of these beers but I detest a lot of things NOLA

I won't judge the beer itself since I haven't had it

I don't like the names either, but the beers were really good.

Look at you, drinking an Old Fashioned. A good one is hard to find sometimes.

Anybody try that Apple Crown yet? I've heard some good things.

One of these days I'm going to give whiskey/bourbon a go. I used to be a big rum drinker (Bacardi or Captain), but a bad experience put me solely on beer.

What is a good starting, non-harsh, option? I hear it ranges from pretty smooth to ruin-your-life.

Do you like it classic or with all the fruit shoved in it? Classic all the way.

Apple Crown

Haven't tried that but the maple crown is like drinking syrup.

Come over, let's drink some whiskey

I'm not some kind of whiskey snob know it all or anything, but I would say you could always start at Makers 46 over some ice with a tad of lemon juice and just sip it.

Do people add water to tone it down? I never got that mixer.

Ease into it. Honestly there is nothing wrong with mixing some coke, Then make it stronger, then just some ice and water. Find what works for you. I'm out of shape with it now but during football season I was drinking a lot of it. I'd put it in coffee, coke, ice, whatever I felt like. I'll show you when our wives kick us out.

You can always add a little Sprite or Coke. Sometimes I like to add a little tea, too. You'll find out soon enough what you like. I'm not going to lie, I think whiskey tastes best with Sprite rather than on the rocks, but I'm learning how to drink it on the rocks a little more.
