I'm looking for a tablet or a laptop. I'm not sure what to get. I basically will just use it for internetting on the sofa, but from time to time I will need the PC functions if I work from home.

there are a ton of good tablets now for under $300-400
Samsung or Microsoft would do just fine for what you're looking for

Yeah, I like the Samsung ones but they're like $300 for a 10".

They're dropping the Nexus line, and following it up with Android Silver. No, I wouldn't think they would stop supporting them. I hope not anyway, I have a N7 and a N4.
The N7 is awesome, especially for the price and the pure Android experience. Mine is the 2012 model and it is still going strong.
