my answer is probably not relevant for multiple reasons, but that wasn't the case with MW3. it worked fine Day 1, server/lag/connection wise.
multiple reasons:
- different company
- different console
- MW3 was still shitty

toss up. don't know.
from what i've seen, it's a good variation of close combat with long distance opportunities in every map but a few.
they've kind of flip flopped:
COD4: perfect mix of CC & large maps.
W@W: almost entirely large maps
MW2: good mix of CC & large maps. more large.
BLOPS: mostly CC
MW3: almost entirely CC

i really do hope Activision steps their game up for PSN on BLOPSII. I loved the shite out of BLOPS, wish my Da Clan friends would have too.
It would be awesome if Da Clan got the band back together with BLOPSII and the board once again reverted back to it's prominence of Da Clan vs LESI daily shittalking threads about who was better. bury this FUTR/LSU nonsense. Plus get AJF back on the COD paintrain.
