Check Celsius. Most pc stuff refers to that. My cpu stays about 32c at idle and 40 at load. Fahrenheit is much higher

Thank god.

What CPU?

Use Celsius when talking PC temps... All the cool kids do it

Amd 8350 black

Cooler master hyper 212 evo heat sink

I didn't check Celsius but that would be around 60 give or take. Is that fine? Like I said, felt cool inside and it has 4 fans in the tower, all were running

I has the CPU fan plugged in to the chassis fan 2 socket. Wouldn't think it would matter but I switched it anyway bc it returns a "no CPU fan" error

98 F is just over 36 C, not 60 C. 60 C would be very, very bad at idle.

Since idle temps can vary a lot (especially the one the bios reports), you need to run a stress test. Download IntelBurnTest, OCCT, or AIDA64.

I just built an 8320 system for someone on this board and overclocked it by 500MHz. It also had a hyper 212 EVO. Temps stayed around 45C at load using IntelBurnTest on high.

Run a stress test and use CoreTemp or something like that to monitor the temps while you test.

My bad. I was thinking 32 degree diff but idk how that calculation works lol

So if it was dropping in to the 80s that's low 30s c. I should be good then I think?

°F to °C Deduct 32, then multiply by 5, then divide by 9
°C to °F Multiply by 9, then divide by 5, then add 32

Idle temps mean very little. I'm sure it's OK, but it's PC-building 101 to just run a stress test, even if it's for 10 minutes and you aren't overclocking. It's pretty important to make sure you aren't hitting thermal limits and throttling. Otherwise, you'll later wonder why the hell your CPU-intensive games run like shite, or why your PC is shutting down for seemingly no reason.

I should add that to the guide.

Why would you want a dual core CPU?

Finally got back home so I'm installing the OS now. Once I get it built I'll run a stress test first chance I get.
It was between 30-35 idle while I was checking the bios.

I had a server not boot the other day at work bc of a CPU issue. Rather not have the same with personal pc

Just a heads-up:

AMD thermal sensors are fricking terrible on these FX chips. They don't give and exact temp on update, they use some sort of algorithm that calculates temperature. When it's under full load it's usually pretty close, but you can never really know. Sometimes it's wildly inaccurate. I've had mine read 5c(41f) at idle, with my voltage at 1.50v. There's no fricking way, unless you're using liquid nitrogen for cooling.

Just trying to be a smart-arse. As a PC player I prefer to use high faluting measurements.
