I left the 290 mining all night and plan to let it mine 24/7 until my blocks arrive.

The issue im having are temps. My temps are running between 81C to 83C with fans @ 100%. Intensity is set to 20 because I can do 920-950k/h w/ 1020/1500 clocks.

The problem with the temps is that it causes throttling, I lose performance every time it throttles back. Do you guys experience any throttling issues? Its probably just this garbage reference cooler; so what temps are you guys experiencing and at what intensity?

nah, it's the reference cooler. I run on 20 with my bottom card around 65c and my top around 75c. Fans are 80%.

I have mine undervolted quite a bit too. Undervolted and overclocked FTW.

EDIT: also, these are my temps/hashrates

The top 2 cards are water cooled, obviously.

Has anyone seen the game Insurgency? Looks like a mixture between a cod/bf4 type game and CS. I've been looking for another FPS, so I may grab this one since it's cheap

Of coarse they are undervolted, its easy to hit 1020/1500. I found little to no improvement in hash rates when above 1450, so I just set the memory to 1500 and left it. Is 1450-1500 the point where DR takes affect?

As for the temps I will change the thermal paste tonight when I get home. Hopefully my Gelid friend can drop temps 3-4 degrees to stop the throttling.

It hits 920 on the steady at 3576 thread concurrency and 384 workload or whatever its called. This is in GUIMiner, IDK how accurate that is compared to HyperNova. On HyperNova I believe it is 846 or something, I really don't know because I only logged on the site once.

Tonight i'll take a screenshot for you guys. I also want to know how to better understand the relationship between thread concurrency, workload size(idk) and intensity. I will do some Googling when I get home.

Sorry for all the noob questions, I haven't read or even cared about mining until this new card.

Didn't you say I could view my cards/workers from my phone browser?

EDT: Also just checked HyperNova, my it says 946k/h there.

Will post the GUI miner thing when im home.

This is incredibly low for that card with an intensity of 20. Should be in the 30,000 range.

use this for a base and experiment.

What's your average work utility rate?

It varies from card to card. In some cards, the core/mem ratio is important, and the proper ratio itself will also vary from card to card. Tons of trial and error required, and even when your hashrate looks good, you also have to make sure you aren't producing garbage work/shares.

It will fluctuate based on the statistics/luck of each round. Pools report your hash rate based on how many shares you are submitting.

I missed a 0.

It is 3567 something, I got it from OCN guys this morning/last night.

EDT: Im not trying to make pennies here, but would like to test it out. Really reminds me of folding back in the day. Always fun tweaking cards.

Yeah I thought I seen 846 this morning/last night but checked on my phone and its 946. So yeah, I just never looked into understanding how its calculated the figures.

Looks cool, I'm not a big FPS guy though.

Bruce looking at my OCN messages to settings recommended was 35276/384/20.

Edt: The more passes and longer your cards stay engaged with calculations the more efficient they become? Wondering if it responds the same as folding.

coooool. That looks right.

Try dropping your intensity down to 19. You may lose 10-15 k/h but it may keep it cool enough to not throttle and give you a more consistent rate.

Yeah I will do that tonight.

I'm going to drop it to 19 and test and then change thermal paste to see how much further they drop if any.

I saw on ocn that cuda mining is here, so those prices should go up soon

It's been around for a while, but it's not profitable to do

My TIs would only get around 450-500, that isn't a lot but would you say it isn't profitable? How so? It usues less energy than a 7950 and yeilds about the same. I just wouldn't do mining on my babies, not worth the stress to my main system. It's for fun not profit.

Edt: someone buying new to just do mining on I'll think it'll become silly.

Really? Last time I saw higher end cards (like my 780s) could only get 75. That was around a month and a half ago-ish

Av question

When I watch blu rays in my living room the sound is extreme on both ends. I have to crank it to hear dialogue but then when music and action start its loud as hell. I read on one forum that 5.1 surround sound would help but that's not an option. I have used a sound bar but I get the same issue. I use my tv speakers because they are better for equaling out the sound but it still happens. Any thoughts?

I never seen that low before.

All the guys on OCN doing mining with their 780s and Titans get avgs of 450.
