Deciding to not play games and instead mine DOGE constantly has proven to be a smart move on my part so far.

Yeah, when do you plan on selling them? I've been rather chicken-shite about the whole thing and just switch pools on a near daily basis and convert everything to bitcoin. I've been holding onto my BTC, except for when I traded $500 worth for a 2 x 270x setup a couple weeks ago. I've done okay, but not near as well as anyone who's been mining AND holding DOGE all this time. I just know my luck, and I know that no matter what I do, it will be the less profitable decision. That's why I practically never gamble.

You are using it for your HTPC? Why not build your own NAS/Server for cheap and have a centralized media storage unit. My Blu-Ray player is just in that thing so we can play Blu-Rays to any TV in our house.

Man I really don't know. With all the news they are getting with the whole bobsled ordeal and all of these new people jumping in I see it rising even more. And let's not forget that the block rewards haven't even halved yet! There are around 760 million new coins coming to the market each day yet the value keeps going up? Crazy stuff.
I'm sitting on nearly 3.5 million right now and it is really tempting to sell a little but I think patience will pay off here.

no. 290Xs consistently outperform 290s by about 100k/h. 290 has 300 less stream processors. That's what makes the difference. Those extra stream processors can be unlocked because some of the 290s can be flashed to 290Xs.

Yea I'm using it in my htpc. I'm just grabbing a 2tb HDD for this. I dont download much stuff. Mainly music and games. I want the blu ray for movies

Just purchased a XFX 290 in HOPES that it will unlock. If it doesnt unlock, selling on Amazon and buying a 290X.
How loud really is that stock cooler?
EDT: I had like 1 spare GPU 2 weeks ago now im full of GPUs for no damn reason, just buying ridiculously low nVidia cards off eBay. GTX 660Ti, GTX 680 and another 650 Ti tonight. Purchased 3 great cards for under $400 bucks, that is insane if you dont mind used GPUs.
Now I do have my APUs, but they don't count. Kaveri will be here tomorrow but my FM2+ board won't arrive until Saturday or next Monday.

If I would do mining, itll stick it in a spare bedroom closet or in the attic. What turned me away from mining when I had AMD GPUs was the noise, and IMO for no reason.
The card will be going under water because the build's "theme" is a WC'd Node 304. Saying that, I will be testing it to see if I should just sell it back to the internet for a nVidia card or keep it.
