Life gets in the way sometimes. My stuff is in our guest bedroom of a 2 bedroom house. If we have company staying, I can't play... if we have a baby here, guess what is being moved out of that room? I need a new house... and a new job to pay for a new house...

So I went to the BX to check out the available options and wow they were shite. They didn't have anything over a 2.0 ghz processor, and they only had I think 2 laptops that were i5 core. Everything else was i3. At least I can buy still purchase online. With that said, are any of these desktops worth the purchase?

Gaming Desktops

Too bad I can't just swap out the CPU on this laptop and add a few more things to it to make it faster. That could probably improve my stream performance. It's a relatively new laptop (maybe 2 years old).

Using the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 with a DVI+Audio to HDMI converter to bypass the HDCP block that Sony has on the PS4.

That should be doing all the encoding for you. It pretty much the purpose of them, other than being a pass through to your computer.

I meant to ask you which program you were using to stream too. What resolution/fps are you streaming at? What's your internet speed?

Those settings are waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy too low for your internet speed. 600 KBPS is less than 1mb of upload.

FIFY. You should be able to do that and if you can't then there's something wrong. I stream at 720p@60fps with 2700kbps and I only have an upload speed of 4.2

Also, unless you have a loyalty to xsplit(like your paid subscription hasn't expired yet), try OBS. It's quite a bit less resource intensive and it's free.

Absolutely not. Actually, there's a balance between CPU and internet speed. For example, you have a high end cpu but a low upload speed you can change the CPU preset so that it encodes it more and takes stress off your connection. In your case it's the opposite way. You have a laptop CPU, so you can gain quality by pumping up the upload speed. Twitch only allows 3500 kbps, anything higher than that will be wasted. Since you have an upload speed of 6+ you might want to try 3500 because you won't be losing anything on your end at all(unless you're torrenting, which you shouldn't be if you're streaming). Also, you're not using much of the CPU anyway since the HDPVR is doing the encoding.

OBS is almost identical to xsplit except it isn't as pretty.

You can go up to 120 with OBS.

Just experiment with it. Set up 2 or 3 different scenes and have identical settings except for the bitrates being different. You can set-up a QoS with your router to prioritize your laptop, so that it will give it more bandwidth over the other devices.

You're hardwiring your laptop while streaming, right? If not, then you're not doing it right.
