I love when it snows.
Anyway, Auburn's season reminds me of 2007 LSU. How fckking lucky has their season been the last 4 weeks?
Congrats to Auburn and Gus! Only thing I hate about watching Auburn is watching Greg Robinson from my home town play for those fckkers. Should have went to LSU.

I hate Auburn but want Ohio State to lose more. My hate for the Big 10 is about as strong as Auburn but not nearly the lvl of Alabama.

Okay, so i found out i'm getting a $400 check from my parents for Christmas. I want to upgrade my rig. The first thing i want to do is update my graphics card then maybe get a new monitor. Could i get a good graphics card for around $250 and then find a monitor in the $150 range?
Currently i have a 1680x1050 23" Acer monitor and a Radeon HD 7700 series GPU. The CPU is fine, i have an i5-3570k @3.4ghz all powered by a 500w power supply.
I am a casual gamer, i will play some MMO's pretty hard and plan on playing a lot of DayZ when the standalone drops. Any advice will help.

What's the amps on the 12v rail on your psu? That will determine how much vid card you can buy. Also, it's best to dual screen with monitors that are the same size and resolution.

Uhh not sure about the power supply. It's a Corsair cx500. But is my current monitor okay for gaming or should I jump to a 1080p?

ok if its a cx500 then its fine. some lesser brands of PSUs claim a high wattage but the +12v rail doesnt support high end video cards.
given the state of crazy price inflation on radeon cards, I'd say grab a 1080p monitor and a GTX760 with that $400. then sell your current monitor and card unless you have need of a second rig.
eta: be sure and read the specs of the card you order - some 760s call for a min 500w and some a min 600w. its this way with pretty much all the higher end cards, depending on manufacturer and model.

Okay, will the monitor make that big of a difference? What site should I order from? Newegg? I don't know shite about monitors which would you recommend? Thanks for the help!

yes i think it will. computer games are really optimized to run in 1080p, so i think you will see a difference.
at work, i run several computers off of a KVM and its max res is similar to your current monitor, the difference is noticeable to me when i go home and use a 1080p monitor.
id just go to newegg and find a highly rated monitor with a native res of 1080p and a response time under 5ms. ive got a samsung that i like, ive also got an asus at work i really like as well. you should be able to find one for under $150 for a 23-24 inch no problem.

Okay, and no way I could use the other to run dual monitors? Just not familiar with that as I've never done it. Just thought it would be cool.
