So I posted this in the wrong thread..found the right one.

Working on a stable overclock setup to do a benchmark, finally happy with what I got. She runs awesome at stock clocking.

Yes I know, sort of just meant 7870 with a Tahiti LE. I'm not going to buy into any of it because I believe it to be a little silly. Such a large buy in for what, 50bucks a day if you 3 or 4 cards?

Yes, we get it. Buy an nVidia for your spare rig and don't bother with mining.

If I was in your shoes, having owned 7970s before.. I would feel different. Just doesn't feel worth it. I want you to sell me on it dammit!

Sorry i've been the Debby Downer of this mining campaign.

Wish I've had purchased a 7990 with those 100 free games 1 month ago. Then you could stick the thing on a FM2 itx build and shove it away in some closet.

$210 a week and it's all profit except for an additional $20 on the electric bill? I'll take it. I like free money, no matter how much or how little it is.

Is this 24/7?

This is just my gaming toy. Monitors and "Windows" already acquired. Build is as follows so far:

LINK

Obtained so far: Obtained Power, memory, case, and tons of storage HD's acquired. Probably grab a cheap Samsung DVD drive for 20 bucks soon.

Microcentering the CPU (or whatever Intel is at that price point next month) and MB combo. In the future, will try some mild OC. Still haven't obtained. Waiting to catch a good SSD deal (~240 GB size, Intel or Samsung).

The big purchase left is for the GPU. Looking for something to get me by a few years at 1080, nothing insane. Perhaps grab a used second card in the future if PSU allows.

Anything I'm overlooking?

Looks good, almost as though you used my guide. hashtaghopeful

If you aren't interested in mining and only want a gaming GPU, save yourself the headache of finding an AMD card in stock and just get an nVidia something. How much do you have left to spend on the GPU? I'd recommend a 770 minimum.

EDIT: Wait, lol. I totally overlooked that hard drive. Don't get that. 5900 RPM, Green, nope nope nope, unless you want shite to launch like your mom's Dell laptop.

Get this one: LINK

it's 2TB, but there are larger and smaller capacities. You want 64mb cache and 7200 rpm, and nothing that says "Green" anywhere.

Also, why no SSD?

Hint: That's a trick question. There is no reason not to have an SSD.

Yeah, your guide summed up all the tomshardware/buildapc/anandtech forums I had been wading through!

There will be a SSD, just waiting for the right sale after I get the other components. And the storage HD was a misclick. I already own it, Seagate (non-green, 1.5 Tb, some random newegg sale several months ago).

Yeah, Something along the lines of the 770 and up looked good. Just waiting for the right price.

Do y'all think the ltc price will go up at all? It got up to $40 last night, but fluttered down again. I've been tracking basically nonstop, and it has become stagnant recently

I don't really think it is. It's also takes 2x the time to mine 1 LTC now too.(compared to last week at this time.)

Yep difficulty went up today. I think I got in just in time to where I will still be able to recoup at least another $300 for this 280x over the next few weeks. I've made a little over $200 mining for a week. We could've made more but Bruce and I have been pool hopping quite a bit to see which ones are most stable.

I was reading last night that the red Chinese People's Republic is banning LTC. Probably doesn't mean much though.

I don't feel bad canceling the first order for $459.99 and relisting for $499.99.

Second this.

I had a "Green Intelli" HDD from WD and the thing would stop responding if not in use. The computer would even stop recognizing it after a while. Only a restart would wake that SoB up.
