Intel is what you need. I would go ahead and build him a IB-E system so he can get some benefits from quad-channel memory and add one or two 780s later down the road before he'd ever need to worry about upgrading his CPU/mobo. It'll last him many years.

Where do you find these people wanting high-end systems? I stopped doing builds for people because it was a soul-sucking experience putting together low-end office machines.

Oh we get plenty of el cheapo requests too, but I've got a couple of jump lists on newegg that I refer to for that so it only takes me a minute to quote those. If they want something under $400 I literally point them to Wal-Mart.
In fact, my boss just told a customer he wasn't coming back today because she continually complains about shite but never takes his recommendations. For example she bought the cheapest pos available at Wal-Mart and wants it to multi task like a i7 machine.

Someone was talking about the FBI pc virus that tells you to pay them to unlock it. They were trying to convince me it was legit

BTW, the 2xTIs on air just hit 1202 with a 34K graphics score.

That was my first run, will post after a few runs in. Still testing stability before I play Burial at Sea later on.

Installing the video recording software wasn't a good idea. I shite down my computer but the damn screen has been "shutting down" for 8 mins.

OK get this, when my external HDD is plugged in, I can't install programs, I don't have sound, I can't open up anything on my desktop, BF4 won't load, the only thing I can do is browse the internet.

The second I unplugged the external HDD, everything I tried to open up does so, and now I can jam to "What Does The Fox Say?" WTF did I do this external HDD???

is that on any usb port?
if yes, the logic board on the external is toast. the drive is likely still good.

if this only happens on your computer, then then you may have a board going out. ive got a glitchy board at work that freezes every other time you stick an external hdd on it.

My former boss (who is actually still a great friend) gets this from time to time. Used to be a simple "boot in safe mode" fix. It has gotten a little tougher lately

It half works on my Mac. The folders at least pop up but it won't show anything in it. I'm pretty bummed. That external had my life on it.

Drive is still good just change the logic board. Is it a passport or something?

I had to do the same with my work drive, purchased a cheap one of ebay and changed logic boards. All your data should still be safe.

data is still there.
pop the unit open and pull the drive out. see if it works in a cradle, or if you dont have one, stick in a PC and go from there.
