Stout, lemme know before you sell that OC formula.
Will do but be warned that since they sent me a brand new board I am going to try and sell it just a shade under market price depending on where Amazon and Newegg have it at.

Here you go. They have tried to sell this thing for 3 weeks now. Buy it and when you get it in call ASRock and request a replacement RMA for $50. It takes about 10 days total and by the time you buy this, ship it to ASRock, and pay the $50 fee you will have a brand new $230 board for $130'ish.

what does this mean?
A simplistic explanation: It means the 8320 and 8350 are the same chip, but the 8350s are essentially cream of the crop chips. There's a margin of error in manufacturing them, so the chips capable of running at the 8350 specs with the correct voltage, TDP, frequency, etc. get the 8350 name, which gives them a much higher likelihood of achieving clocks in far greater excess. The lesser capable chips would get the 8320 name. And then the even better chips that can easily hit 5.0GHz (with the ridiculous 220w tdp) become the AMD 9590 gimmick series.

I actually understood that.

You've replaced sockets before, haven't you? Looks like that might be the only thing wrong with it. The pins are bent to hell. Not sure what's going on with the underside of the board, though. Burned, stained?
I have three old motherboards you can have, btw, but I'm not sure they'd even be worth the shipping cost. One is a LGA 775 with a couple of bent pins, one is LGA 1156 mATX from ASUS (it works but the NIC sometimes decides not to work until a few reboots), and the other is an 1156 biostar Tpower LINK It doesn't work and I have no idea why. Just decided to stop posting one day. Like I said, they might not be worth your time, maybe as practice boards.

I have and that is all that is wrong with that board but I am out of commission for about a month. I sold my machine and my new machine I finally settled on is back ordered. That smaller machine wasn't getting hot fast enough for larger boards so it would basically cook the PCB due to prolonged exposure of very high heat.
I read that most BGA repair/replacements have a 70% or so success rate. Mine was lower than that and the above is why so instead of costing me money burning up boards I decided to just spend more money and get a bigger and better machine.
My new machine will also be able to be controlled by a laptop so I can set different heat profiles for different sockets and boards so the chances of a successful repair are greater since it takes a lot of the guess work and human element out of it. You can find heat profiles direct from some manufacturers for BGA rework. I think Intel is one of those that shares the info.
The machine I had was really good for cellphones, tablets, and smaller boards. Also CPU sockets use hard solder and it takes 220 up to 270 degrees to get it moving enough to free or reattach the BGA. Especially with the heat fighting to penetrate the plastic socket.

Well done videos; I didn't realize you had so much content.
You should stream even more when you upgrade to IB-E!

Ok so now my computer just locked up when I wasn't even playing anything. I was watching a twitch stream and browsing TD and it just locked up again.

Define "locked up." Explain exactly what is happening in detail.

Is 600w power supply enough? Need a new one.
Posted on 8/3/13 at 7:17 pm to bluebarracuda
Knowing my specs. What do you think i can get away with wattage wise? Keep in mind i do like things to run smooth and look pretty.
Posted on 8/3/13 at 7:18 pm to stout
Keep an eye out for me if you can. Im getting nervous.
Posted on 8/3/13 at 7:20 pm to Blitzed
600W+ wouldn't hurt to have if you ever want to crossfire.
Posted on 8/3/13 at 7:22 pm to stout
Yeah id like to stay around 600 and hope to get a corsair but im seeing about $60. Is that what i should expect?
