Just got the 660Ti in. It has screen artifacts. I am going to put it on my machine this evening and see what I can do. If I can't get it working I may have to RMA it.
I would feel bad selling you a repaired product I refurbed in case it broke down the road. That's up to you though. I will let you know if I get it fixed.

OK. I always read Ivy and Sandy were locked at 1600 and would even DC your ram to that if you had something higher so anything more than 1600 was overkill for that reason.
Sandy, Ivy, and Haswell memory controllers default most RAM to 1333. You have to manually enable the XMP profile for its rated speeds, but the memory controller has to be able to handle it. With Sandy, 1600-1833 was about all it would handle. Ivy was better, easily allowing the 2133 and above, and a small percentage of Ivys could handle 3000mhz RAM.
Haswells, as far as I've read, can handle 3000mhz no problem, but an overclocked haswell may not be able to handle a 3000mhz kit at its rated timings and/or voltage. There are other settings in a good mobo bios that will help memory clocks further, such as adjusting the CPU's System Agent voltage and its IO digital and analog voltages.
I did get a few noticeable bumps in real-world performance using Adobe media encoder and premiere, just a couple of test runs. Might've helped gaming performance, but it's not like I would really notice or care about an FPS bump when I'm using 2 overclocked 7970s.
It is extremely alarming how many negative RAM reviews on newegg are from people who don't understand IMCs and XMPs. They buy their 1866Mhz RAM, and rage immediately when the bios reports 1333 on first boot.

Are you saying my 1600mhz ram is probably running at 1333 by default?

I would love to learn programming and hook up with someone more creative. If only I had the time and or knowledge
Me too. I'm a complete retard when it comes to programming. I signed up for a C++ class at LSU second semester of my freshman year, intro class. The teacher was bad, and I felt like I was the only student who actually needed to learn the material. I tried to nudge my way into a study group, but those guys knew all of it already and weren't interested in helping me understand every single lecture. I dropped the class and never tried again.
That was almost 10 years ago, though, and before I had a Vyvanse prescription. Maybe I should try to teach myself.

What CPU do you have? Go into the bios and see what it says. Some RAM runs at 1600 by default, like those low profile crucials I had. I always like to enable the XMP profile instead of relying on auto, though, to make sure it's running at all of its rated specs.

3570k. Concerning the programming I have heard multiple times hat you are better off learning n your own anyway because the classes don't really teach you much and what they do is very broad. It is probably good to have people to field questions though. There are a lot of great forums for that though. I have always wanted to learn programming but never took the time to do so.
Eta: stout, did you play blacklist this past weekend? How was it?

C++ is easy. i promise a bright guy like you could pick it up with no problem. i need to get off my arse and figure out if i want to program or do security already. right now im sorta in a velvet rut so to speak.

I bought my qnix for that price. Never heard of xstar
Posted on 7/23/13 at 3:41 pm to bluebarracuda
According to something I read somewhere I can't remember, QNIX and X-Star use the same PLS panel and extremely similar if not same bezel/stand, with equal overclocking capability.
Posted on 7/23/13 at 3:49 pm to ILikeLSUToo
Yea all the comments are saying the same samsung panel.
Posted on 7/23/13 at 3:51 pm to Mr Gardoki
It looks like the exact same as the qnix
Posted on 7/23/13 at 3:52 pm to bluebarracuda
Is it just me or have prices been dropping lately? I know it's a sale but it seems more common.
Posted on 7/23/13 at 3:55 pm to Mr Gardoki
those panels have always been cheaper since they've come on the market.
The shimians, catleaps, crossovers, etc have all stayed around the same price. Dell has been dropping their older model monitors to all-time lows though
