4070Ti Super embargo lifted today, and it's pretty much what people expected. It's slightly better than the original 4070Ti at the same MSRP. That puts it very slightly behind, but basically on par with, the 7900XT in pure raster while performing significantly (15-20%) better in RT. Prices on the 7900XT had started to creep up to around $750 after that initial drop in response to the 4070S, and I would expect this to push those prices back down to the $715 range.
Ultimately, a pretty meh card to join the rest of the meh GPU generation. Maybe the 4080S will be interesting next week, but I doubt it. My sights are firmly on next gen.
But as always, anyone actually in need of an upgrade, by all means buy a card this gen. They aren't bad; they're just boring and not worth upgrading to if your current card is "good enough".

The 4080S will only be slightly less meh because Nvidia kinda poked their head out of their asses and aren’t charging 12 freaking hundred for it.

Anyone here ever ran ncaa 14 on the ps3 emulator? I needed a new desktop for work and figured I’d get a low end gaming PC just to try it out (but can’t justify spending $1500, not a huge gamer)
Long story short, it came in today and the game/emulator ran like dog shite.
What’s the cheapest gaming PC that could run an emulator/ncaa 14 smoothly?

It’s a pretty demanding game, it was the final justification I needed to do an upgrade.
You could probably spend around 1k for a new build and have plenty of beef for it. Any interest in building or just looking at prebuilt options? Do you live anywhere close to a Microcenter or just Best Buy?

I haven’t run it, so I can’t answer specifics, but I’ll say that my understanding is that emulators are far more CPU heavy than GPU, which is good for keeping costs down.

No interest in building, would be looking for pre built. I’m assuming I wouldn’t be able to find one for under $1k that would run it smoothly

Very CPU heavy and still need a little something on the GPU side. I’m looking around.

You would be much better off building, as what you're looking for is fairly niche. With that said, I think something like this would work and would be (barely) within budget:
ASUS - ROG Gaming Desktop - Intel Core i7-13700F - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 - 512GB SSD - Black

Best Buy says that a 3060 GPU is “high end”

no shot this could run it smoothly?
I’d want at least 12600. Also that PC comes with a super low end Intel GPU …. I’d definitely want something better than that. Intel is very new to making GPUs and they are still working out their drivers.

Nop.
This will probably work, but keep your receipt:
iBUYPOWER - TraceMesh Gaming Desktop – Intel Core i5-13400F – 16GB Memory – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 8GB – 500GB NVMe - Black

frick man, really want to get one but I just can’t justify it

Need me to spec you out a boring greybox so your wife is less likely to give you side eye and ask how much you spent?

I think I blew my first ever PSU
Posted on 1/25/24 at 7:57 pm to Joshjrn
Recently rebuilt my PC into my Hyte Revolt 3 case which comes with a 700w PSU... Was in the middle of playing pubg last night and it brought my computer down completely.
The PSU was HOT, and it refuses to boot at all. Got an Asus AP201 case coming in tomorrow that works with my Seasonic Focus plus 850w, so we'll see what the problem actually is

Welp, looks like it's either the mobo or CPU that died.
Plugged my 8600k setup to the same PSU in the Revolt and it booted right up

Y'all let me know if my theory is right or not. Trying to figure out what died
Got everything hooked up, getting absolutely zero boot, like press the power button and nothing at all happens (short the power button pins and using case power button). Clear CMOS button on the back of my ASRock Z690itx/tb4 lights up when there's power connected to mobo, but does nothing.
I'm thinking the mobo is shot since I'm getting absolutely nothing at boot

If you're getting nothing nothing and you know it's not your PSU, I would say either connectors (if you didn't use the same ones when you tested the other platform), or yeah, board.
