Finally pulled the trigger on some more monitors. I've been down to one since I moved back in November (wife got my 1440p monitor and I took my ultrawide to work). Too good of a deal on eBay for some 4k HP displays. Will feel nice to be back to a triple display setup.

Are these 4K high refresh or 60Hz? You'll need DP2.0 to run them natively if high refresh. DP1.4 and HDMI2.1 can't do multiple 4K at high refresh rates without compression/8bit/no HDR and I believe at best 2:2:2 subsampling.

Just 60hz. Absolutely no need to get high refresh for my side monitors. Hell, I only paid $135 for each of them

How many people are running 4k 240hz?

And I know you have this thing with creating a fiction that I hate AMD (in spite of my last two cpus being AMD) and am an Nvidia fanboy, but I just don’t like all of the over the top superlatives in the tech space. DP 2.0 is a good feature, just like PCIe Gen 5 is. Neither are a huge deal right now, and likely won’t be for another couple of generations.

But hey, maybe I’m wrong, and AMD’s next cards can actually push 4k at 240hz at medium to high settings. I doubt it, but I very much hope I’m pleasantly surprised

I used to run into issues running different refresh monitors. Eventually got a 1080p 144Hz to match the 144Hz of my main and it went away.

I've always had a single high refresh rate monitor with multiple 60hz and thankfully (knocking on wood) had any problems

Guess you could always fork over $1799 for the new Porsche Design monitor. Drops 6/15. 32" 4K 144Hz 1152 zone Mini LED with HDR1400 and peak 2K nit brightness.

Thats what I got. I like it so far. I’ll have to upgrade the resolution one day but I’m good with what I have for now.

PC Part Picker

Can you guys give me opinions on this build? Will be building my first PC soon and I set my budget right around 1k. I have zero experience building, so this is a build I put together after researching and watching YouTube videos a couple hours today. Am I missing anything, besides the Monitor which I’ll buy later.

Yes, yes I am, I don’t know any other ways to get Windows like y’all shot callers in here.

Also I have had a MSI laptop for 4 years that works flawlessly on my Cox Gigablast wifi. Only option is wifi in my house.

You create free installation media from Microsoft's website and then either use a code you already have (you'd be surprised) or buy a grey market code for like $20.

But anywho, post a thread with your usage case (production, gaming? If gaming, what do you play, at what settings and resolution? etc) and we can talk it out. It can also be an easy reference for you if you have build questions along the way.

ETA: There is no perfect build short of spending like $2,500. Everything below that makes compromises somewhere. So we need to know where to make those compromises, and where to spend the money.
