If I have a PC budget of 1000 bucks, would I be able to have a Pc capable of running every game well? Hoping for at least 1080 p 120fps. I’d build my own to save money

3 years ago? Yes.

Now? Almost impossible because of the GPU shitshow.

Samsung shows world's first 4k 240HZ gaming monitor before CES

Damn. 32" MiniLED 4K 240Hz 2,000nit HDR panel.

Probably way overpriced I'm sure.

I don't plan on upgrading my monitor for a long time

I think I'd grab it but I'm sure it'll be like $2,000 for a 32" screen. Never doing that.

Still think even the 43" LG OLED's coming this year are too big for me.

It would be hard for me to move up from 27" since I sit so close to the monitor

Ya prob so. I mount mine to the wall which gives more room and space from it.

32" is my perfect 4K size.

I just prefer to sit with it right in front of my face

My 34" UW sits a grand total of about 20" from my face when I game. It's not uncommon for it to make me motion sick, depending on the game

P.S. frick (2013) Tomb Raider. I literally couldn't finish the damned thing with all the camera shake/sway.

Monitor tech getting wild. Samsung unveiled their 55" screen that rotates and has a scroll wheel for different dimensions and multitasking.

Looks great for productivity, but I'm not sure I trust it for gaming. I can't imagine that kind of thing plays nicely with variable refresh rates, etc. But I very well could be wrong.

Intel Xe Alchemist: Everything we know about Intel's gaming GPU

Intel Alchemist, previously known as DG2, could have an outside chance of competing with the best graphics cards around.

Looks like it is hoping to compete near 3070/6700xt at $579-$399.

I'll be surprised if I own an Intel card within the next decade, but I welcome them into the space, regardless. At this point, the fight is over three discrete points: power, energy consumption, and price. Having three competitors for three variables is good for the market.

Idk about decade but a year or two ya. Have to wait and see how their drivers and features are before anything else.

If the leaked bench is accurate it's about 23% below 3070ti fp32.

I meant that purely on a personal level. I'm generally going to be willing to pay a premium for very high end (albeit not halo) parts, and it will surprise me if Intel can truly push the likes of an Nvidia RTX xx80 in any given generation. But hey, I would love to be surprised

Yeah mass market is their first target this drop. Price to performance and get it in as many PC's as they can.

They won't have a 3080/6800 competitor for a few.

Nvidia is abandoning the ARM deal.

LINK

quote:

Nvidia Corp. is quietly preparing to abandon its purchase of Arm Ltd. from SoftBank Group Corp. after making little to no progress in winning approval for the $40 billion chip deal, according to people familiar with the matter.

Nvidia has told partners that it doesn’t expect the transaction to close, according to one person, who asked not to be identified because the discussions are private. SoftBank, meanwhile, is stepping up preparations for an Arm initial public offering as an alternative to the Nvidia takeover, another person said.

AMD 6900XT smashes world records with 3.3GHz OC, maintains highest performing GPU ever made status.

Still crazy AMD was able to beat Nvidia's performance so quickly. Only gets you more excited for RDNA3.

Which 3DMark chart is that? I can't find it replicated just clicking through the major GPU tests (TSEG, TSG, PR) limited to a single GPU. And the only chart of those the 6900xt isn't getting smashed on is the original TimeSpy Graphics test.
