so, i got my gigabyte monitor from amazon today. hooked it up to my work laptop since my work station and gaming station is at the same desk. i've got a dual monitor setup:
27" gigabyte at 1440p via HDMI
24" asus at 1080p via HDMI
now that i've got it connected to my work laptop, i've noticed my laptop has become "sluggish". not from a performace standpoint but from a visual standpoint.
anytime i go to minimize/maxamize a screen or play a youtube video, it reacts in a very low frame rate. it's like the screen flickers as it's reacting to my commands. even typing is a bit "delayed".
eta: and this goes for both monitors. not just the new one.

What GPU does your work laptop have? Do you have the latest drivers?

Update on the Gigabyte 27” 1440p 170hz monitors I got: they’re the shite. Feels like I’m seeing a whole different image compared to my 10-yr old 1080p.

I upgraded from my alienware 25" 1080p 240hz to a Dell s3220dgf 1440p 165hz and it's amazing. I like the curved and the 32" is pretty awesome for work and I sit far enough away when I play.

I really wanted to go ultrawide with one of the 49” monitors, but the ones that were 1440p and 144hz were crazy expensive. The 49” or two 27s are really what fit my desk. I thought about going with something like yours and then getting a monitor I could orient upright, but it all worked out in the end. I’m jealous of your ultrawide for gaming, but think the 27s strike a nice balance between gaming and productivity for me at the end of the day.

I'm trying to follow your set-up here...
You've got your work laptop hooked up to the new Gigabyte monitor, and your main PC hooked up to both the Gigabyte and the Asus?
And both your work laptop and main pc are now sluggish?

so what could cause the screen to not reach the edge of the panel? also, this monitor didn't come with any buttons for the menus. just an on/off button. it did come with some USB cable though.

Change your scaling in nvidia control panel or whatever amds is called
Posted on 12/10/20 at 6:28 am to bluebarracuda
GPU scaling under display settings.

none of that is doing anything. i can select any of the options, and the screen does nothing. maybe that's the way its supposed to be.

Does it look like the backlight is on around the edges? If it's not then it's supposed to be like that

it's hard to tell. the thing that told me it probably should reach the edges is that the bottom of the display reaches the edge the panel.

Windows scaling shows 100%? 2560x1440 resolution also shown?

Yeah idk then, maybe that's how it is. I would clean uninstall display drivers and reinstall if you haven't.
