I'm so impatient though Dec 8th feels like an eternity.

newsweek is saying 9am/et so you're right if you're in ct. is this just for the founders edition? nvidia's site has a bunch of brands listed. just no prices.

I think I may get the 6800XT, seems to be the best price to performance on the market. All depends on if I stay at 1440p or go 4K.

Yeah 6800 XT seems like a good sweet spot right below 3080 price and probably same performance.

Yeah it looks like the perfect 1440p high refresh rate card and 16GB vram.

Sold my system last year with a 7950 in it, served me so well for long time

here's linus telling everyone to wait for the release of the AMD cards before buying a 3070 card.

3070 being 8GB really kills it. That is not enough VRAM for these days, we're already seeing games taxing that completely including your favorite CoD.

I know, I was going by any consumer card. The 7990 edged out the 690 after that crazy driver update that boosted 7xxx cards, especially the 7950 and 7970.
I think the next cycle nvidia came out with the titans and basically bombed AMD?

i don't think my 5700XT is being maxed out at the moment and its only got 8GB. i'm in 1080p though so that might be why.
Posted on 10/28/20 at 3:33 pm to finchmeister08
Yeah this would be 1440p and above. Mine is maxed if I try to run it on ultra.
Posted on 10/28/20 at 6:29 pm to bluebarracuda
Yeah plus the 690 had that 2GB RAM limitation. Soo dumb.

So who’s going after a 3070 tomorrow?
ETA: I keep going back and forth. Do I need an upgrade? Not really, but I do want to try out an nvidia card.

Nah, VRAM is too low not an option for me at higher resolutions.
Posted on 10/28/20 at 7:55 pm to UltimateHog
Well, you’re team red all the way, right? Regardless?

For sure. But 8GB was dead regardless of brand due to QHD+ and soon 4K.
Posted on 10/28/20 at 8:00 pm to UltimateHog
yeah, but we'll see 2-3 more gens of cards before they become mainstream, right? there are still people playing in 1080 like myself.
