Kinda surprised nobody is selling just the board with no stock cooler for a little cheaper, with water cooling getting more popular.

I might stick my toe in the water this time with an AIO for the CPU.

How much more of a pain is water cooling the GPU?

I don't believe they legally sale to consumers that way, not certain but believe I've read that eons ago.

Water cooling is easy. I've done hard acrylic and flex, but just do all flex now. Must easier to deal with when changing parts.

Edt: If local to BR/NO I dont mind helping.

I have a 9900k right now and want to switch to AMD. Do I:

A) get new X570 mobo and Zen 3

B) Wait for AM5/DDR5 mobos before making the switch to AMD CPU?

you think? I'll be pretty pissed off if I go through all the bullshite of swapping mobos and then have to buy another one in 1-2 years

I try to sit on MOBO/CPU combos for 3-4yrs.

GPUs every gen, but I go a few gens between CPU/MOBO upgrades.

2080Ti reference MSI

Haven't sold because still use, and no telling when I can actually get my hands on a 3090, will probably need to over pay on ebay.

If I upgrade to a 3070, the 2080 would be so shite for resale I would probably throw it in my server to handle the Plex transcoding.

Open up a bunch of free cores

Yeah what is 200-250 bucks? I would just keep it for other projects.

Yeah, if it's a monster I say go for it now. Give it two gens+ before you upgrade again.

Really. We've been around this game for a while, but this is one of the first releases where I really feel like Nvidia is pushing their new gen cards to the next level. I came around back in 2011ish era with the gtx 580/hd 6970 era, and these new gen cards are going to be nuts. I feel like these cards are similar to the x79 series performance boosts for consumer products

The only thing it feels comparable to me is when they released Big Kepler (TITAN). In terms of performance leap.

But won't truly know u til I get a card in hand and see real benches.

Why would you switch? the 9900k is gonna be an elite gaming CPU for years

Even with the Zen 3 IPC boost, not sure why you would switch over if you already have a beast 9900k system

Am I gonna need a new mobo for a 30 series card? I’ve got a B450 Tomahawk and I thought I heard someone on YouTube say that the new cards have a new PCI express plug.

I’m not as well versed as you guys in this hobby so I’m not sure.

No, the RTX 30 series cards will come with the power adapter cables required that connect to your PCIe power cables to your power supply.
