There was a pretty bad backlash went they suddenly said zen 3 would only work on X570 and B550 chipsets because they promised compatibility on the 400 series boards too originally, like used getting B450 as a selling point to save money over X570 but still support future AM4 chips.
So a lot of people in the last year bought B450 over X570 to save some money thinking it would be compatible with Zen 3 still, but then they said it wouldnt be last week changing their minds....so now they are figuring out a solution to at least B450/X470 owners.

Okay boys, I am considering making the investment into a rig, but have no real clue where to start or how to be sure I’m getting a good deal or don’t miss an important piece.
As of now the only game I play on Steam is Football Manager 17. This will likely still be the game I play the most, but I will also be interested in big titles as well that will require some power to run at max settings.
Any help is appreciated.

You could run that game on a toaster

You would be surprised. My Mac Pro had a lot of system upgrades from the standard model and it still somewhat goes pretty slow. I like to run a lot of leagues and it takes like 3-4 minutes to save
But yes, to run the base game it doesn’t take much to power.
I am just wanting to move from a laptop to a desktop.

It’s an older one. Like a 2015.
Idk the specs off of the top of my head.

I used MacPros until 2011ish, even gamed only on an iMac until Sandy Bridge, but had a Sandy Bridge iMac.
Used to love Macs, even as a PC guy, but honestly the drop off in price/performance was soo large, I even gave up on iPhones around the 5 and went full Android during that time.
About once a month I browse the Apple site thinking about getting another iMac, just case, but can't justify the purchase of one of those limited machines.

I searched for like an hour on my Google Drive of my "Mac Fanboy setup" from 2010.
Had my iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone placed all nice on the gaming desk. Looks soo goofy and shameful, but was a proud fanboy.
I'll find it on the NAS tonight.
Ah damn, I just noticed you meant "MacBook pro" and not "Mac Pro".

Anyone checking out the 10900k release? Pretty hilarious power/temp numbers, basically Intel has taken 14nm silicon to its limits. Places putting 360mm and even more ridiculous rad water setups on it just to run and never throttle at STOCK speeds
As expected the fastest gaming CPU overall, same as 9900k basically (little bit faster), but the cost difference once again not a selling point. Ryzen 9 3900x selling around $400 now and they want $530 for a 10900k right now.
The 10700k I cant find under $410 which is ridiculous as well.

10600k or the i5-10400 are the only two interesting ones in Intel's lineup. Otherwise, this launch is just... meh.

Yep, I'm sorry of interested in the 10600K, mainly out of boredom, but would love to try to hit 5.5
Posted on 5/21/20 at 7:21 am to boXerrumble
Even the 10600k looks like it will be $265+ which is simply overpriced too. Intel just way too late to the game with these chips with Zen 2 chips so discounted now.
For whatever reason they have 4 SKUs of i5's to start already.

I was just reading Zen 3 is looking at 15-17% IPC improvement with 8 cores per CCX with 32MB shared L3 per CCX.
I'm glad I waited.
Think this is where I finally ditch the 8700K with the 8/16 Zen 3 and a new case finally as well.

AMD keeps delivering on the CPU side!

Definitely excited to see zen 3 in the coming months and whatever ridiculous chip I can upgrade to in my R3600/X570 build probably sometime next year when those get cheap.

i5-10400 is locked, but 6C/12T for $189 is not a bad thing at all. Could see that chip being a candidate for a lot of SFF builds.
Agreed on the 10600k pricing. $260 for that is simply ridiculous. Heck you can get a Ryzen 3700x for around that price now.
