The fight between AMD and Intel for processor market share seems to be getting extremely close, with PassMark reporting that AMD now has 40% of the market – a level of success that the company hasn't seen for over 14 years.

What's the market look like currently for PC parts?

My current build LINK is over 5 years old and may be time for an upgrade. Just got CoD:MW and it's freezing a lot. I'm considering just adding another 8 gb of ram to see if that helps, but as old as this rig is, it got me thinking about building a new machine altogether.

Also, how do I do this without ILikeLSUToo's guide

Some early CES monitors from the two top dogs look interesting.

Samsung is going with 27-32" 1440p/240Hz this year with HDR600 and Freesync 2 + GSync.

LG is coming out with this beast

4K 144Hz (160Hz OC) 27-38" NANO-IPS 1ms with Freesync 2 + GSync and HDR600.

I think I may go with the LG when it drops. 4K 144Hz is too good to pass up, plus I will just use my PS5 for that too. It sucks that the 34" is HDR400, so screw that, 27" or 38" are the only real options.

Can't wait.

HOPEFULLY something non-glossy at 32" with all the specs is released.

AMD announces Ryzen 4000 mobile and now things get real heated in the mobile segment. Time to pay attention to laptops again. The pricing war is going to be fun and great for consumers!

Comin' out HOT: Lenovo’s new AMD Ryzen 4000-powered Yoga starts $360 cheaper than its Intel version

Safe to say Intel is now definitely collectively shitting down their legs.

Really interested to see how these 8 core/16 thread mobile Ryzens perform. Saw a bunch of laptops are coming with them and ditching intel.

Radeon 5600m and 5700m on the way as well.

Think AMD may have missed the mark slightly pricing 5600XT at $279 considering 5700's are now as low as in the $300 range because it's been out for a while now. At $249 it would have been a much better value, but I guess it has same # of processors, but severely cut down memory bandwith, interested to see how that affects performance.

AMD is pricing it directly against the 1660ti.

The issue is how big does it outperform the 1660 Super?

Because if its only by a few percent, the Super is a better buy. So if you really had the cash, might as well just get an RX 5700 and skip the 5600 XT.

I know, which is a mistake IMO. They kind of dropped the ball on the 5500XT and 5600XT IMO. The 5700 and 5700XT was great because the XT was better than $400 2060 Super performance only slightly worse than $500 2070 Super performance making it a great value.

The 5500XT comes around at $169 and $199 and the 1650 Super at $159 kind of kills it from a value perspective which is weird to see from Nvidia against AMD. The 8 GB 5500XT at $199 just isn't close enough to the 1660 to warrant that. I just think they priced the 5500XT all sorts of wrong, just get 1660 Super or 1650 Super depending on what your budget is, $150ish or $200-$230ish. They are better cards.

Will have to wait and see on benchmarks but if a 1660 Super is almost right on par almost with the 5600XT then it doesnt really make any sense to get, especially at $40 more. I mean a 1660 Super is only a couple percent under a 1660 Ti. Nvidia kind of ruined their own card there (1660 Ti and regular 1660 really, no point in anything but the 1660 Super from a consumer standpoint)

Little worried about high end. I dont want to see a high end 5800XT or 5900XT priced at exactly nvidia prices. High end graphics card prices need to come down, not stay stagnant.

Hoping a 5800XT against a 2080 Super could be priced around $650-$700 and a 5900XT against a 2080Ti could be priced at $900-$1000 or something.

Sorry I'm derailing from the low to mid-range GPU speak.

But, this might be my favorite smartwatch. I've been wearing my old moto 360 watch. It still look's good and better than Apple watches.

I toggle from my collection of field Luminoxs. Haven't worn a smart watch since like 2014. But for some reason, want one again.

Those Galaxy watches seem okay, I just can't do Samsung products.

Edt: does your watch have GPS?

My wife just got me a cheapo $100 Orient watch off of Amazon because I wanted to get back in to wearing watches. Decided to go against smart watches since I didnt see anything I liked

Nice, you ride or run? Track to Strava?

To a different topic.

I had so much to post here yesterday, but was banned for something I'm still unsure of the action.

Might find the energy to grab my favorite CES PC items so far for a post.
