Please explain yourself.
Why would the new 8th gens benefit you in gaming? Gaming laptops come with 4cores. They aren't U series 7th gens. They are HQ and HK 7th gens.
If you want someone to wait, wait until the spring for new GPUs. Right?

Keep deflecting because you had no idea 8th gen HQ series is 6 cores. Just wanted to see your excuses after you said they're all 4 cores.

What? I did but what is the big deal about this? Why does it matter for gaming on laptops?
The "all 4 cores" is about the 7th gen CPUs that are paired with laptops. It has nothing to do with 8th gens. Sorry if you took it differently.
Again, it doesn't matter if they are 6 cores anyway. Why do you keep making this a point?

So we have some extreme bandwidth situations with some engines that make some use of 6 cores. But, you won't see that in a system running a GTX 1080. Those are for system pushing much more bandwidth through.
You esp wont see it at 1080. Maybe at 1440.
Do you understand how the whole process works? This is why we argue. I'm not sure you understand or read anything outside a consumer level of knowledge on the situation.
Edt: Also go back to the guy asking for gaming laptop reqs. How will waiting 1 month really benefit him? If he should wait, it should be for 4-5 months for new GPUs.

Not many, not many at all esp not at that low resolution. Ubisoft's engines are really the only ones that come to mind. At that is at higher resolutions.
It is a bandwidth thing. Some games like Blizzard's engine still really use only 1 core as an example. So IPC is king there.
Edt: What really gets me is the "geekbench" benchmark post. You know better that this BS that it doesn't translate well into gaming performance.

Again, no one looking to spend 2K is going to buy worse previous gen products. But keeping be naive to that fact.
Maybe someone will pop in with 3K to build a new PC and you can recommend a G440 and 1060.

Holy shite this Intel+Vega chip appears to be a beast wtf I was not expecting this, so glad I waited for CES for the 2 in 1's.

Naive to what?
What does a 6C/12T mobile CPU get you in gaming over the 4C/8T CPUs we have right now? Again gaming is still mostly depended on floating point performance. CPU and RAM performance comes in more at the higher bandwidths for higher resolution.
My gaming laptop has a 1060 and isn't bottle necked by the 4C CPU, not at 1080p.

Edt: I also would never recommend someone spend $2K on a gaming laptop. The high thermals limit their life and they aren't upgradeable(obviously). The 1060s @ 1080 when played on a 15.6" form factor really is a sweet spot. 1080p @ 15.6" is 141PPI is better than my main rigs 2160 @ 32" with 137PPI.

I want these in the Surface Laptop really bad. We have the Surface Pro(May 2017) with an i5 which performs fine for the SOs needs in school. But I'm really hoping these chips make it into the next refresh. If not the Surface Pros, the Surface Laptops. I really want a Surface device but not buying into one if I can't do moderate gaming like say D3.
Edt: The SOs Surface Pro is fanless which I hate. The damn thing gets super hot when playing UNO from Ubisoft. UNO.. a card game.

DoUrden i'm not sure if anyone who regularly posts in this thread are IT pros.
I'm in Project Controls but develop solutions for companies who are in need of specialized tools for their project. SQL Server and VBA are the only languages I really know. No certs held in anything but a PMP. When i'm not developing, i'm just your everyday cost controller and scheduler.
Edt: What is your interest in IT? Just a change? I can say with an accounting background that any experience with database administration and/or development will be a great combo on a resume.

About a week ago. I'm using nicehash so it basically handles everything for me. It'll mine whatever the most profitable algo is for your cards which is really nice. Plus it automatically pays you out in BTC. You don't make as much as trying to mine a specific coin, but this is soooo much easier
Edit: 1080s and 1080 tis are some beast miners right now
Edit2: If you can remote into your PC, I'd recommend getting it started. Super freaking easy to do with nicehash

I just have my 2 x TITAN X Pascals. It was easier when mining during the 1st craze but also wasn't super easy.

Think they got hacked a while back, shut down shop, but have since started running again.

Coinbase terminated my account last year for I guess buying gear overseas. Never gave me a reason why, just that my activity was against their terms.
I was using GoCelery but they got hacked earlier this year. Leaving me with luckily just a few hundred in the account since I just placed an order for more gear at the time.
Every other online wallet/exchange seems like hell to use compared to Coinbase.
