Last sickleflow fan is going out. Last 2 days, had a bad fan warning. 400 rpm yesterday and 200 today. ~.~
Jetflow fan should be in tomorrow. Might push back up to 4.2 ghz or so. Although installation appears to be a PITA on hyper 212 evo.
Depends on noise I guess. 36db is full load. That's too loud.

The moar cores revolution continues, Windows 10 Fall Creators Update has brought in 6 and 8 core enhancements into the OS, Ryzen as well as Intel seeing pretty decent gains on the update, about 5-10 FPS for games and improved CPU usage across the cores.
If you have 6+ cores and Win 10, you should update if you haven't.
ETA: Some games are seeing up to 25 FPS improvements. Damn.

You have something funky with your internet? Probably took me about 10-15 minutes.

Anyone pre-ordering or considering the Samsung HMD Windows Mixed Reality headset? Looks pretty badass and good early reviews.

I know I’ve been kind of told to wait on coffee lake by folks on here, but I went ahead and got an i7 7700k with the 1080 for my new build.
Am I crazy? I couldn’t pull the trigger on the Ryzen, and I’ve read that the 7700k and the i5 8600k battle it out on games in regards to performance to the point where they are pretty close.
Did I make a bad decision?
Full build if you’re interested:
CPU: Intel - Core i7-7700K
CPU Cooler: Corsair - H100i v2
Motherboard: Asus - STRIX Z270-E GAMING
Memory: G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200
Storage: Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG STRIX Video Card
Case: Corsair - Crystal 570X RGB ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Coffee Lake is out, but yeah they are hard to get as it was a paper launch and sold out everywhere.
8600K is 6 cores whereas the 7700K is 4, while also being cheaper (8600K $299, 7700K $339).
So yeah probably, 8600K is a better buy performance wise and price wise. It's not like a 7700K is bad in any way still a great gaming CPU, but the 8600K is better while also being cheaper.
I would have waited until I could find an 8600K in stock, which would probably be a few weeks.

I got the 7700k for $315, I get your point though.
I was ready to get it built though. Hopefully it wasn’t that bad of a choice. Thanks for your feedback, UH.

I based my choice of some articles and videos I read, and the difference was pretty close on different games. When there was a difference, it was 2-3 FPS.
I got antsy and a little greedy with the purchase. But I’m looking forward to the build. It’s been 5-6 years since my last one.

Just buy the best you can do with your budget.
THeres always gonna be a better deal, better technology that pops up afterwards.

Kind of what I was thinking, but the coffee lake is close to being able to be found so I’m questioning my decision. Just going to roll with it. Was just looking for some feedback.

Not sure you know the definition of a paper launch.

You'll be fine, yes more cores is better and more and more games as well as Windows are optimizing for more cores, but the 7700K is still top tier and will be until you are ready to upgrade again.
Getting one for $315 is solid, even if the 8600K is $299.

Hate to be a downer, but I have issues with my Strix board, and two h100i, coolers that I tried to use didn't work. I wish you better luck though.

Those all in ones really need a refresh. Same shite for years. Weak pumps, loud fans on thin rads.
