Not reading 1377 pages, but I have a question. Do any of these machines (more entry level) come up for sale? I want to play some games but don't really want to spend a lot of money. I have a family and won't have much time to play therefore I don't want to spend a lot of money. Thanks.

You could build a decent 1080p gaming PC for around $500-600.
What is your budget?
EDIT: Actually, you know what? Given the current mining shitstorm, that may be tricky if you want a new GPU

I must be dumb or uninformed.

Why would they be? I can answer all your doubts if you would like, but just waiting to be filled in.
They are closer in design to Skylake-E than Kaby Lake.

I was looking to stay at $500 or lower. I just figured gamers were like golfers and upgraded every year or so.

This is awesome if true. I want to do a complete AMD build for a spare. Didn't want to spend $500 on a RX 64 because its overpriced IMO. But if you can get your hands on a 56 at the retail $400, im more than happy.

This is scary story IMO. Esp if you keep up with the crazy world of security.
Slayer of WCry worm detained after attending Defcon
quote:
Marcus Hutchins, the 23-year-old security professional who accidentally stopped the spread of the virulent WCry ransomware worm in May, was detained by law-enforcement authorities after attending the Defcon security convention last weekend, according to a close personal friend.
Hutchins was booked into the Henderson Detention Center in Nevada on Wednesday afternoon, according to a screenshot the friend captured of the facility website. When the friend visited the detention center on Thursday morning, he was told Hutchins was no longer there. The website mention of Hutchins was also gone. PJ Thomas, an administrator at the US Marshall office that the website referenced, said the agency has no record of Hutchins. The friend, citing privacy concerns, asked not to be identified by name in this article.
quote:
"He's literally off the radar," the friend said. "I'm very concerned about that. I've known Marcus for years. I know everything about him, and I have no idea why he would be arrested."

I had this post written yesterday, but I decided to wait for ‘confirmation’… which came today from OCUK’s Gibbo:
Seems the hash rate on VEGA is 70-100 per card, which is insanely good. :(
Trying to devise some kind of plan so gamers can get them at MSRP without the miners wiping all the stock out within 5 minutes of product going live.
Holy. fricking. shite.

So, like every Intel release cycle for the past several years.

If only, at this point I think the idiots feed off of negative publicity and community outrage.

I got pissed when I heard it first but I guess it sort of fits with the Z87/97 and Z170/270 board compatibilities over the last several years.
Seems like the pattern is motherboards being compatible with chips for 2 "gens".
Not that I necessarily agree with it, but you are correct, Intel has been consistent with that.

All stock with a single 1070 (from my HTPC). Cant wait to grab 1080 tis to shoot this score up
Edit: Got the CPU to 4.3. Getting really hot only on two cores, so I think I need to redo the thermal paste

Both sides are.
Gaming tech sites are pretty bad with the daily flash outrage titles.
