Ok..im drawing a blank. What advantages would this give over a traditional gpu ?

Portability and mobility sure. But why?

Yeah I enjoyed it and then it got stale pretty quick and I sold it.

I need to start buying more physical copies. Everything is digital download because I enjoy no disc spinning sound, slightly quicker loads and not going into GameStop. My Amiibo addiction brings me into those stores enough.

Plus I always get into it with GameStop employees. Going buy the Pro and trading in the OG PS4 on Sunday the GF walked out because I was yelling. I just can't take their stupid policies. He wanted to charge me $15 bucks because the HDMI cable with the PS4 trade in was damaged (It wasn't, just had a wear point). But then he proceeds to sell me a refurb PS4 Pro with the same issue but WORSE and a fckked up controller.

Fckk GameStop.

It is for laptops/workstations.

I love this idea. Wish the buy in was a little cheaper. This is great for ppl like me who are always on the road but enjoy PC gaming.

My issue with those things are the price. I also want just the shell and converter. Don't need a PSU since i've got a few extra PSUs laying around.

Really glad we are seeing more of these things come to market that aren't specifically for Razer or Alienware laptops.

how do you like that monitor?

Monitor is great! Up to 144hz and freesync on it. Completely adjustable with ease, has a headphone hangar, and had no dead pixels or any issues.

Only negative is it's a TN panel, although I haven't had any problems with viewing angles.

Bought off Newegg for $370 in April, it came with a free USB memory stick too. Currently, waiting for a good 4K monitor, but in no rush until AMD releases a capable card.

You might get $300 or so for the pair, maybe $200, I dunno. Better than collecting dust. Try r/hardwareswap. I've had good luck selling things over there, without needing to have prior seller feedback. It's easier than eBay, if you price it right.

Maybe you'll do even better if the 970 is a good mining card...

The mining craze really fricks things up for about 6 months at a time. I took full advantage of it last time, but I just do not have the time or patience to deal with it again, and I'm not hurting for cash like I was back then. I would be up in the wee hours of the morning waiting for a new altcoin to release, mining and trading in real time. I probably netted about $3k in 3 months.

But I do feel a sense of FOMO for not jumping into it this time, so I'm hoping it dies down soon for my own selfish reasons. And, I feel a little nauseated every time I look at the current bitcoin price, thinking about how many BTC I've owned at different points in time and traded for pennies.

Just from some rough googling, it looks like my pair of 1080 Tis (which have pretty bad efficiency for mining) would net me about $300/month right now... and keep my room hotter than hell.

Don't look at it that way.

In 2015 I bought 2 BTCs to start buying steroids online. The price was $200/BTC. Within 1 month it doubled to $400 and started rising until it hit around $1K/BTC. Yeah could have held on and cashed out but wanted something else at the time.

Now what pisses me off is my CoinBase account being shut down last year and having to move to Celery. Now I had about 0.40-0.60 of a BTC in my Celery account when BTC was at around $1200. Now Celery got hacked about 2 months ago and i've lost that half of BTC. That is a lot of cash when BTC is at $2500.

Did coinbase shut down your account because of sending your bitcoins straight to a deepweb site? I heard that was happening, but I've been lucky I guess.

No, it is a front facing site. They shut down thousands of accounts last year based on multiple reasons. Mine they never gave me a reason but I believe it was country based. My BTCs was going to a wallet in Turkey.

It was a huge deal last year. Ppl not doing illegal stuff getting their accounts shut down with no reasons. All because the government was coming down on CoinBase to "clean up activity".
