Caps are normally used for filtering and voltage regulation. Quick google search showed some people losing cards after a month when they lost a cap from a Tom's hardware post. With you pushing cards and this being an Amazon purchase, just seems reckless not to return it and get a new one with how easy it is to replace on Amazon.

Sure, but I have plenty of time. I thought Amazon was still out of stock but just noticed Amazon has it in stock again, so I went ahead and ordered another one. I'll start the return process when that one arrives.
I'm still going to finish my loop tonight and just replace that card this weekend. I have no patience at all
I know what caps do but still want to know what this one is for specifically, so I'm going to put it through a gauntlet of tests unless someone on OCN just knows.

lol, card is starting to artifact today. Been using it heavily (still air cooled) in my media server playing titanfall 2. Overclocked it a little as well. Finally starting to show signs of death. Glad I have another one coming tomorrow.
It got late last night by the time I finished everything else in my loop, so I never put the block on. CPU is delidded and pasted, everything else good to go. USPS delivering new 1080 Ti tomorrow, right around the time I'll be at a wedding.

I'm no expert on caps by any means, but I would think at stock settings the card would still work fine.
Did you try testing it at stock?

Think some of this is sort of dumb since we still have GP100 left for the GeForce lineup. I hate buying midrange so I just don't. Not since we started this shtt with TITANs. Last midrange I've purchased was a 690. But they can milk us well.

NVIDIA's fear for AMD Radeon Vega seems to have never subsided because aside from the recently released Titan Xp, the world's GPU chips-maker is reportedly launching Volta-based GPUs in the third quarter of 2017, the new architecture. These new GPUs are expected to be the next-gen GeForce GTX 2080 series which was originally planned to be released in 2018.
Poor market conditions are reportedly the main reason why NVIDIA decided to release the next-gen GPUs based on Volta architecture. Aside from the fact that hardware sales decline and price war have eaten its margin for the first quarter of 2017, the upcoming AMD Radeon Vega GPU is also said to be a factor on the company's revision of plans, Game Debate reported.

It still artifacts at stock. But even if it didn't, that would not be acceptable (unless of course I'd bought it from a scrutinizing a-hole company like Newegg).

The card would also still be on it's way!

Are you open today or tomorrow? I want to come grab those cards from you before I got to get the other stuff from coyote

Tomorrow would be good. Got a wedding to go to in a couple hours.

No doubt. I had to order my DDR4 from newegg and it was the holdup for the entire build.
I also had to get the cryorig cooler from there for the media server. Bit of a pain to mount on 115x, but definitely a good cooler.
I also replaced my raystorm CPU block with the heatkiller IV pro. So, if anyone is interested in using a raystorm block, I'll probably just give it away.

I haven't ordered parts from Newegg in a while.
Have they gone downhill?
Edit: which brand of 1080tis did you order?

They have been shtt for about 5yrs now.
1. Terrible customer service
2. Overpriced compared to other outlets.
3. High S/H charges
4. Ridiculous shipping times
5. The worst return policy on the plant
6. Restocking fee of like 15%. So expensive items cost you shtt ton to restock. Even though it is the same size as another gpu that might be half the cost. It makes no sense.

To wait for my bare die kit to come in to setup my loop, or frick it and do it tomorrow when I get everything from you and ilikelsu?
I ordered my bare die kit on Tuesday, but it's shipping from Europe (only place I could order it). I would just delid and frick it, but I don't have any liquid ultra for my die and IHS

With some overclocks.
CPU is at 5.1 right now, 3.344v. Still haven't honed it in, but good to know it'll break 5.0 without much trouble.
