This has been a touchy build and I am still working on it, added a new piece today you can tell because the sides are not on the case. I will work on it when I am done, being in probably the top 500 or better on 3DMark with my setup and only using air means IDGAF about cables at the moment.
Mulling water at the moment, but not sure I want to mess with a stable system at this point.

I like Newegg, but they are advertising the Kaby Lake CPUs with up to 20% better performance than Skylake...
Really?
Really?

Maybe they are basing that on the better overclocking, about the only difference at all.
Currently sitting at 5GHz 1.33v with the 7700K smooth, stable, and cool. No complaints. Will attempt to go further when I read some OC reviews and see where I can take it.
Or are you talking about the 20% performance increase(s) over older hardware pre-Skylake like Ivy/Sandy Bridge and DC? That part appears pretty true.

This is actually a great sign for practical overclockers because 5GHz overclocks haven’t been seen since the days of the Core i5-2500K and Core i7-2600K. Both of which could seemingly run at 4.5GHz on air or 5GHz with liquid cooling.
You can’t say the same about the CPUs that followed Sandy Bridge. Ivy Bridge, and Haswell both hit walls at 4.5GHz for most people. Devil’s Canyon was supposed to break the 4.5GHz barrier but all we got were chips that could get closer to 4.5GHz but not surpass it. Broadwell didn’t count (it didn’t ship in great volume), and Skylake also hit that same invisible barrier at 4.5GHz.

Nope, heres there footnote on the performance comparison:

1 Up to 20% better performance versus the previous generation. As measured by SYSmark 2014 on 7th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-7700 Processor (Configuration details: Intel® Core™ i7-7700 Processor, PL1=65W TDP, 4C8T, Turbo up to 4.2GHz, Motherboard: ASUS Z170, Memory: 2x4GB DDR4-2400, Storage: Seagate HDD, OS: Windows 10 Build 1607) versus 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-6700 Processor (Configuration details: Intel® Core™ i7-6700 Processor, PL1=65W TDP, 4C8T, Turbo up to 3.5GHz, Motherboard: ASUS Z170, Memory: 2x4GB DDR4, Storage: Seagate HDD, OS: Windows 10 Build 1607).

What are yall's thoughts on this laptop?
Good deal for what's under the hood? It seems like its pretty solid.

Nunya...
Why would anyone want to try and drive 3 4k screens on a single 1080? Stupid!!!
I am perfectly happy with my MSI GT73.

Had one of those before I bought my MSI, but mine had the 980m in it. It wasn't a bad laptop. Only reason why I got rid of it was that I wanted a 1080 after they came out.
If I were you I would go and look up benchmark data on the 970m and see if you would be happy with having to turn down the visuals to run things at better frame rates.

Now that I've joined the world of PC gaming and experienced the highs, I've now hit the lows.
I built the computer largely without incident. I just noticed the case fans weren't running, though. I shut everything off, unplugged, and foolishly carried the desktop in the other room for some better lighting, and hooked up the appropriate cables.
Put it back in my room, try to boot it up, and no signal to the monitor. When I turn it on, the case fans, CPU fan, GPU fan, HDD light, and Power light up/spin (I can also change the LED on the GPU and the backlight keys on my keyboard). The reset button also works. There's a set of debug lights that flash when booting up. The CPU light flashes for half a second, then the DRAM light for two seconds, then finally the VGA light for another two seconds. I think this is a good sign - they'd stay lit if there was a problem, right?
If all that is running, I doubt there's an issue with the PSU. Clearly the mobo is working in some regard as all the fans and LED lights are turning on. The monitor seems to be in good condition, the Viewsonic logo flashes when plugged on, at least.
FWIW, the components are: 6600k, MSI z170-A, AMD 480 4GB, 16GB RAM, 1TD HDD, 480GB SSD.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed? Not really sure how to diagnose it from here.

Try your GPU in a different PCIE slot? Also try a new cable and hooking it up to a TV to see if it gets signal.

You may want to look into this laptop
Dell Inspiron 7000 Gaming.
Sub-$1000.00
1080p
GTX 1050 GPU
1TB HDD
4GB RAM

This seems really good for the same price
$899
Kaby Lake 7th Gen i7-7700HQ (Pretty sure that's the top mobile chip)
2GB GTX 1050
8GB RAM
1TB HDD (Upgrade for $60 to the 1TB 7200 rpm SATA+ 128GB M.2 SSD)
15.6" 1080p IPS
-HP Omen gaming line has good reviews. Just 4.8lbs and 8 hour battery life too. That's my choice.
ETA: It's pretty crazy the advancements in what you can get for the price in laptops now, while also being lightweight and thin with great battery life. Damn.

i looked up benchmarks when upgrading GPUS. 970's perform better than 1050's. Thats why they're 200$

Last thing I tried was taking everything apart and putting it back together. Moved the GPU to the other slot, no change.
I'm going to try hooking up an HDMI cable this afternoon to see if its something to do with the DP parts.

Funny, I went ahead and bought the Asus I linked earlier. Turns out half the keys don't work so I'm going to go ahead and return it.
I have to go through Best Buy because I recently got a pretty sizeable gift card. I sent the HP link to best buy to see if they could match the price, and they actually are going to match the HP price with the next step up of a processor (50$ increase) so I'm going to grab that one from Best buy for 950.
Jumping the gun and having to return the one I bought may be a blessing.
Thanks for the reply, I may not have seen that model with the 10 generation NVidia card.

I like that half of that post was a long disclaimer to basically say "we're probably not going to give out the $25k reward."

Most certainly. I hate that.
Just like Nintendos Bug Program. They decide the value of the bug and give a reward. They claim up to $20K but I bet a lot of those ppl just get $100 in compensation.
