I moved on to L1 for Wendell and thumbs down every "Crit/Tek Syndicate" video uploaded on YouTube.

There was apparently some drama surrounding his departure from tek syndicate. Never read the details (too many long threads/posts to sift through), but I'm sure it involved a chick.

Patrons not getting their Patreon rewards and employees not getting paid all while Pistol boosts drama and spending.

It's been two years since I last build, if you were going to upgrade what would you upgrade and what would you upgrade them to?

- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
- Intel Core i7-4790K
- Gigabyte Z97X
- G.Skill DDR3 @ 1,332 MHz

This is what I am thinking about, critique away

Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
$329.99 FREE $329.99 SuperBiiz Buy
Motherboard

Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
$149.99 FREE $149.99 NCIX US Buy
Memory

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory

Eh, only if you want to just for the hell of it, but that will be a pretty lateral change.

Pretty much, I have the itch again but my 2nd computer is about 5 years old and I can't even used my 970's collecting dust in it, I would transfer the old stuff to upgrade it, and it's the one that the on board video stopped working on in my last move so it would give me back my 2nd monitor on that system.

Makes sense. Considering doing the same to build a server.

Any comments/suggestions on the components I picked?

6700k vs 6800k vs 6850k, pros' or cons?

This is what I am looking at right now unless someone has comments or suggestions.

Intel Core i7-6850K 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor

Asus ROG STRIX X99 GAMING ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory

One concern in that some X99 boards need a bios updated to work with broadwell-e.

If your just gaming I'd get the 6700k.

Nothing wrong with the 6850k though.

AMD detailed Ryzen today, not sure why they changed the name from Zen but alas, sounding very very good, think I will make the switch.

AMD Zen 6 core 95w TDP versus the 6900K 6 core at 140w with near identical performance. fricking smashed.

Guess they weren't lying all along when they said within 5% IPC of latest Intel chips. At significantly lower TDP. Lets just hope they weren't lying with the $300 price point.

Been busy, just got a chance to sit down and watch the press event and read some early reactions.

I am excited.

Did some research and figured it was time to stop leaning on the knowledge of you all and figure out on my own, I ordered the above, I may go full retard and add a 2nd 1080, but not sure I want to go back to a 2 card system.

It will all be here friday so I know what my weekend will consist of, building and benching.

Idk why you upgraded CPU. But a 2nd 1080 is a must IMO.

I want to move my current one to my 2nd computer is the biggest reason and if I am upgrading I want some performance upgrade. I will see how my single 1080 does with the upgrades and go from there, I am not dropping $2K on a Titan X.

I didn't drop $2K. They were actually cheaper than what I paid in 2013 formy first TITANs. They are only $1200 directly from nVidia. Back in 2013 I paid 1300 just for 1 of the 2 because of rarity.

After blocks and back-plates the upgrade was around $2900. I'm good with that because next year will be a Pascal refresh.

2x1080s will be a hell of a rig. You will lock everything I lock at 2160 baring driver issues.

Edt: what 1080 those Stryxt (sp?) What is the PC on those? I haven't even tried maxing out my cards but I bump them up a little to 2100 ea in game.

Question, I lost the lotto on my first 1080 and it won't even do the stock OC in the ASUS GPU tweak (no I didn't rma, bad on me) but I can still OC the 2nd one right providing it's capable? Also does it matter what version you have with SLI, there are three different clock versions?
