Asus and MSI face accusations of doping review graphics cards
Ultimately, the tweaks they made are small. Sounds like they just wanted to make sure reviewers are evaluating the cards at their absolute highest ability so there's no discrepancy later. But that was a dumb decision. Slippery slope, too.
Asus and MSI face accusations of doping review graphics cards

TechPowerUp's actual beef with Asus and MSI isn't that the companies shipped it GTX 1080s with higher clocks that one could get with a retail card, as that fiery headline might lead one to believe. Instead, what's going on is that these board partners are shipping the site cards with an aggressive clock profile enabled by default: the so-called "OC Mode" you'll see advertised on many spec sheets these days. Retail GTX 1080s are shipping with a milder "Gaming Mode" or similar profile that feature slightly lower clocks than the peak "OC Mode" numbers in marketing materials would suggest.
Ultimately, the tweaks they made are small. Sounds like they just wanted to make sure reviewers are evaluating the cards at their absolute highest ability so there's no discrepancy later. But that was a dumb decision. Slippery slope, too.

So I just found a r7 250, 8gb of ram and a 400w psu... Should I throw it with an amd 7850k and dual graphics it, or get a cheaper 750k or pentium?
I just want it to play overwatch at any medium/low settings
Edit: man, it's Been a long long time since I've been here!

I figured you died from a blood clot which was a complication from hemorrhoids caused by anal sex. That was the rumor.

Can't wait to see the evolution of this build. Especially starting at the lower end, gives it lots of room to grow.

AMD RX 480 Can Hit 1.5Ghz+, New Overclocking Tool With Voltage Control Coming
It's one of the things I missed when I got GTX 980s. Had to go through lots of bullshite to do any real overclocking -- short some resistors on the card to make it ignore power targets and carefully experiment with flashing modified vbios files (made simpler by having two cards so I don't have to worry if I soft-brick one card), and yet there were still low voltage ceilings and zero ability to modify vram voltage, and this was on a reference card.
Contrast that with my 7970s of AMD's last golden age, with dual bios and control over core and vram voltage/frequency to a dangerous level. But it just made me all the more disappointed when I bought my R9-290s that were locked down and poor overclockers.

It sucks we aren't completly unlocked. I want to burn my house down with the cards.
I miss caring about OC'ing. I mess caring about PCs and performance all together. Seems like there isn't much we can do outside a few tweaks to really push performance up on the new generations.

So to put it all into perspective, an overclocked RX 480 will actually perform within striking distance of AMD’s current R9 Fury X flagship. At less than one third of the cost. If that’s not a good enough point to end on, I don’t know what is. It certainly looks like AMD may have hit a home run with its 14nm Polaris graphics chips.
When a $249 100w card is as powerful as your $650.
AMD stock is absolutely soaring right now, up to $5.18 right now after being $1.82 11 months ago and 3.43 April 29th. Dayum.
You go Team Red, you go.
I am absolutely kicking myself for not getting in earlier, was so close to grabbing a lot of shares earlier this year at under $3 a share and pussed out. Now the analysts move AMD to BUY NOW status and it skyrockets again these last 24 hours to a new 52 week high.

Google employees are adding 'Lady' to their job titles to fight sexism
quote:
Share on Facebook Tweet Share (2) Pin More than 800 members of Google's staff are standing together in a showing against sexism today by appending a single word to their job titles: "Lady."
Business Insider has details on the protest, which is happening in response to a ludicrous comment made during Alphabet's shareholder meeting last week, when someone referred to company CFO Ruth Porat as the organization's "lady CFO."
The internet immediately exploded in outrage over the sexist remark, and now, one week later, Google's staff has found its own way of responding. According to Business Insider, someone made the title change suggestion to an email group, and it quickly caught on. They launched an internal site to promote the protest, which was planned for this Thursday and Friday. It even got this awesome GIF featuring some of Google's newly proposed emoji:

Ive seen a few photos of the RX 480 non reference cards.
Dont particularly care for the Sapphire one.
Looks like that disgusting skin on the Samsung S5, that horrible bandaid look. Hope this isnt the final version. At least their reference one is painted white and has a sweet looking backplate from what ive seen. Might not be getting a sapphire card this time.

Wait thought the 480s are 200?
