Out of curiosity, what routers do you guys recommend for gaming?
I have a cheap Netgear WNR2020v2 that I bought for $30 on Amazon 2 years ago, and its just a Single 2.4 GHz N router. I was a College Student at the time and I just needed something cheap that worked.
I only had a laptop, and I was able to get by with it.
Now its starting to lose connection more. Its still relatively fast with Cox 50 MBPS internet, but I'm losing connection almost 2-3 times a day.
Whats the best midrange AC1200 or AC1750 router out there? I've seen suggestions for the Asus RT-AC56U, TP Archer C7, and Netgear R6400.

I think quite a few of us have the Asus AC 66 series.

My old PC had a Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz with HT and I only had the stock cooler on that with Artic Silver. Constantly overheated and reached 100 C a few times, but never died on me.
I've owned many CPUs over the last 5yrs. All had crazy overclocks. This CPU has never been on air, always on a custom loop with temps as far as I know never reaching over 50C. Temps aren't a main killer of CPUs all the time, voltage rips that fckker apart over time also. It has been on 1.44V since 2013. It takes a little more to push a 2011 socket over 1155/0/1.
UH
You also have the AC66U? I stopped using it as a repeater and just stick with my AC68U but they are the router besides the AC68U having a dual core. Both are still worth money even compared to the newer models released the past few years.

Personally don't like weed but love the idea of setting up a grow house. Seems super fun as a project.
Those coconut medium can be salvaged and sold. Clean by just staying under the boiling point and soaking for 5mins. What are the filters made of for filtration, regular carbon filters? That is one of the hardest parts to control if you live close to others, is the controlling of that wicked hydro smell when plants start to bud.

That is pretty legit equipment. Would love to have some of that stuff.
The filtration is critical. We would not only distill but ionize tap water for the plants. Those fckkers drink so much water and so much gets evaporated that it wasn't sustainable to keep buying jugs of distilled water. Another killer task is keeping the water free of microbial life you didn't want in there. You run the water 3 times a day over the roots and its packed with so much food that everything want to grow in it. Filtration was another huge cost.
EDT2: That tank, is that an air tank or water tank with bladder?

You'd also need to probably invest in solar so your electricity bill doesn't raise any flags.

Or just move to Washington, Colorado, Oregon, etc and grow your own where it's legal to do so.

Yes and no, LED lamps didn't pull that much power. The conventional tubes did however.
EDT: You are correct though. Keeping that room around 68-74F with those lamps takes some energy here in the south. So LED lamps vs tubes might be a wash if you are harvesting mid summer with AC loads.

It's a water tank. Looks to be part of a water well system. I see them a lot on houses with wells.

I'm building all new furniture for our house, including a new 2" top 84x28" executive desk out of sinker cypress. This is some of the pics from my trip yesterday. Thought it was pretty cool, but not stout grow house cool.
My only sinker piece. This will be a coffee table with 2 end tables i'm thinking.

Cool. You ever built furniture before or is this new for you? I've wanted to get into woodworking for a long time.

Yea but as a teenager. Worked in a cabinet shop a few summers and framed up houses. I have all the tools, just purchased a 12" planer and jointer. Today im in the garage rigging a dust removal system up. Basically just running 2.5" tubing from my chop saw, table saw and planer to my shop vac.
EDT:
I know its not the best planner, but was only $200 off of Craig's List. Its a 12" Shopline which is made by JET.
I know im not the best at building furniture, but with patience and the right tools you can do anything.

Computers are becoming boring somewhat, think wood working will be my next big hobby. A lot of tech and hardware involved, something you would love!

Other than lacking some of the more specialized tools like a planer and router, my main problem is lack of workspace. I don't have a proper workshop in this house. I'd have to do everything outside or under the carport. My next house will most definitely have a shop, but this house really isn't worth the trouble of adding one. Although, I have a bonus room (once a garage converted by the previous owners). Right now it's just a storage room full of junk. I couldn't probably turn it back into something more useful.
Yeah, it's tough to be excited over annual incremental improvements. I haven't upgraded anything in almost a year and a half. And it's a money pit, vs. something like woodworking where the bulk of your initial expense (tools) is more of an investment.

I sold off a lot of my good wood working stuff and just have some Craftsman power tools left. I have a miter saw, table saw, table router, etc left still. Got rid of a band saw the other day. I don't fool with furniture building as much as I used to because I have lost interest. My shop is also too cramped right now. About to add an enclosed lean-to on the side to park the mowers and stuff to make some more room. I already have two more mowers, not in the photos, parked in one of those tent shed things from Home Depot I put behind the shop.
I just bought another welder and I am about to get a plasma cutter because I have been doing more metal work lately anyway.

Yep. On the CPU side you can still get away with 2011 Sandy Bridges for gaming and productivity. You miss some of the bells and whistles but nothing that major.
GPUs are a given 1-2yr refresh cycle to always stay on top of the latest releases. A lot of new tech comes with each cycle of new architecture. This is the biggest money pit. 2 x latest cards with 2 x water blocks is not a smart way to spend $2k every year.
The only exciting things is finally the move to 4K and OLED panels. This is much welcomed since the last mainstream leap came in 2012 with 1440/IPS panels.

A band saw is one thing im missing. Really want a wide mouth band saw which would mount as a bench top /stationary and detach to use as needed anywhere. I'm not even sure they make such a thing. Band saws are extremely useful for multiple materials and applications.
How many yards/properties/contracts are you tied up in with your landscape "division"?
Just bought a biscuit joiner today. Well, was an Easter Gift from the SO. She really wants some bookshelves built!

Are you buying another monitor this year? 4K/Gsync/Freesync?
Have eyes on anything yet? UH's 4KLG is pretty sweet, but I might be skipping GSync in favor of 2xCrossOvers for only $250. Those damn Koreans are soo cheap. The only reason I might skip Gsync/Freesync is because of OLED. Really want an OLED/4K/Gsync monitor. To me that would warrant a worthy $1K price tag and set you up for 3-4yrs of gaming as a main monitor.

Not sure how many we have now. It's in the hundreds between Lake Charles, Beaumont, and Lafayette unfortunately and well into the thousands if you count the other 9 states I have sub-contractors in. I hate dealing with it but it's part of our agreement with the banks to get their rehab work on their repos. I don't cut or landscape for anyone else but the banks. If you saw what Wells Fargo pays for tree and shrub trimming, which you have to cut grass to get, you would understand why we cut grass.

I have that same one. Hardly use it.

Maybe. For a while, I was on the fence about 1440p/144hz vs 4k/60hz, but I've pretty much decided I'm going 4K, with or without variable refresh. But the more I consider it, the less excited I am about sinking several grand into the upgrades I was looking to make by the end of the year (Mobo/CPU/DDR4/NVMe + GPUs/blocks and monitor). I'll probably just get GPUs and a monitor, but even then I'm having my doubts. My gaming time lately has simply been playing Black Ops III at night until I get sleepy, while watching a documentary or something on the second monitor. New hardware isn't going to enhance that experience.
Still a ways off before I buy anything, so I may get excited about gaming again before then. Right now I'm just mentally drained from work (currently making a slow transition to a promotion). Plus, money's tight for the time being until the summer and fall, so I don't want to get worked up about new toys quite yet.

So its confirmed Polaris will not ship with HBM2? nVidia using GDDR5X makes more sense, we still need at less 6GB VRAM for modern games and HBM1 won't get you there.
