Could be any number of things, but I'm gonna guess it's software related, assuming this never happens while gaming. Doesn't really narrow it down that well, I'm afraid. What's your video card, and what drivers are you running?

no, everything works perfectly other than the video thing. I think it's a MSI Radeon r9 270? nothing special. Wasn't built as a "gaming pc" but more a pc that I can game on lol

I'll have to check on drivers

AMD Radeon R7 200 series
Driver version 13.200.0.0

I didn't even get the BSOD code. I'll have to check it when it happens again. Probably should've started there and googled the code

I do this every day at work on servers and then space out on my home pc

Yeah and I am not thrilled about it, they don't give you an exit button that doesn't keep if from running in the systems tray. My W3 updates for DLC don't seem to take unless I go to gog.com and download them.

Boy they weren't joking.

Also, Win 10 is flat out amazing, right down to the Edge browser, I may actually use this over Chrome, it's incredibly fast versus Chrome on 8.1 right now, the dark theme and amount of options is great too. And this is just on my mechanical HDD.

Driver improvements

Those are between the last certified drivers. AMD releases beta drivers every month.

Although, I'm sure you knew that.

I am noticing a huge improvement on tessellation performance between this one and 15.6, however.

Rosewill HIVE 650W 80+ Bronze

EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold

SeaSonic 650W 80+ Gold

EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Bronze

EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Gold

Just weeded through the decently priced good units. Don't fret over Gold vs. Bronze. Pick the one that's cheapest at your online retailer of choice.

old games are awesome

Somebody offered me 600 for my monitor and gpu. I might take it. All I play anymore are older games. Well sides EU. That doesn't take much of a gpu anyways.

Need some recommendations for a few things:

Good set of computer speakers
Headphones - So far I've been considering the Hyper Cloud X and the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x

Also, while not an immediate need it's getting close to the time when I'll need a new monitor. 24-27" good gaming monitor, but doesn't need to be super expensive. Also, I've heard mixed things about G-sync, so is it worth the extra money going for a monitor that has it?

Mixed? Whoever says variable refresh is anything but awesome is retarded. The only bad thing about g-sync is the extortionate pricing, especially on 1440p/144hz.

Don't have any experience with other headphones, but I certainly love my Q701's.

NVIDIA Partners Cut Prices of GeForce GTX 980 Ti and GTX 980 In Response to AMD R9 Fury

quote:

Over the weekend, it appears some of NVIDIA’s AIBs (add-in board partners) have quietly cut prices of high-end Maxwell based GeForce GTX 980, and 980 Ti graphics cards. The move seems to be in response to the disruptive launch of the new AMD R9 Fury cards, which have been making quite the splash among reviewers since they launched early Friday morning.

Wish the same would happen with their g-sync monitors.

Yeah, it's been amazing with FreeSync and 144Hz. CoD AW and BF4 were the first games I tested and was blown away.

Bunch of Z170 motherboards revealed from the big boys, just one at launch from Asus, everyone else has multiple. Needs to have red accents to match the FuryX LEDs and the H440 case, the ASUS one looks perfect. Gigabyte/ASRock have red themed ones too but not so subtle.
