Overwatch - Why does my team always suck?

Holy crap.
I can average 20+ kills a game and hold the target to get to something like 75% and then the rest of the team just vanishes.
Every time I attack after that, there is no support.
Damn, this game is frustrating.

Because people don't know how to stay grouped up and/or don't understand characters that pair well together.

Sounds like every other competitive online game that requires teamwork. Like in csgo, having good teammates that can work together is more important to ranking up than raw individual skill

20 kills is very low unless you are playing mercy. Easiest way to win more is to be vocal with your team. Keeping everyone on the same page is a big deal, especially at lower levels. At the higher levels, most players already have the game sense to know when to push up or fall back, but not at the lower levels.
Best tip I can give - if you lose a team fight, make sure everyone is ready for the next fight before engaging.

Yep. If four of your teammates die, back it up and wait for them to respawn so you can go as 6 again.

This as well. It always seems like it's the OTHER team that has some mercy/pharrah mains. That combo is the most frustrating thing to me imo.

Quickplay is pretty frustrating for several reasons. I get stuck playing healer half the time, because no fricking body else will. I'm pretty new, so I haven't played much in comp.

The games become so damn frustrating that it makes me want to quit and never actually get there.
I tend to play either as Mercy (because no healer, and I’m not that good) or D.Va because I like her play style and I can usually get a few kills or do pretty good damage after my mech is destroyed.

Oh ok. Well quick play has some of the worst players ever playing it, so the experience will be trash. Just try to get up to 25 and switch to comp.
As someone who went from bronze to low masters before quitting, the comp games won’t be too much better than quick play, as far as communication/team play goes, until you hit diamond
. You can rank up easily as support if you just constantly remind your team to stay grouped up.

Why does everyone want to play freaking widow?
It's a waste of a slot. No one in lower elo can play her correctly.
ETA: Also, Overwatch is the same as LoL. The matchmaking is poo and 90% of the games are a stomp one way or the other.

I typically play with my friend. I’m a good Orisa (multiple 40k blocked damage matches) he’s a good soldier. So together we do well, both of us can play other types well if need be. But we make a match competitive every time

I really like playing as Mercy.
When you have someone who is stable and doesn’t go running away from me, I usually do pretty well.

Mercy is great, my advice is to be selfish with her. Don’t leave to heal someone that puts you at high risk. Res tanks (especially Orisa, Zaria, Roadhog) who are slow and have high HP. Almost never res tracer or sombra or anyone fast with low HP.
Think of it like this, the more you are alive the better, so don’t sacrifice yourself to res or heal.
