Same. I was poor until I feel like I wrapped up the Bloody Baron quest.
I had over 20,000 crowns, but later in the game I kind of stopped looting everything I possibly could and when it came time to make the master crafted ursine and feline equipment I needed a decent amount of crafting stuff. Probably dropped about 10k crowns on stuff.

I finally beat the main story last night. It was truly beautiful. Got the best ending, just wonderfulness. I think I am at level 35 or 36 now with only treasure quests and the collect 'em all quest left. Then of course most of the question marks in Skellige. I don't know how I'm going to get high enough level to use the Harpy sword I built

This is why the low XP penalty pisses me off.

Mastercrafted feline armor is the truth. Haven't found much that has been able to beat it.

Think this game might have ruined future RPG for me.
I disagree with the whole idea that some of you have promoted about quests. There are tons of go there, get this do that quests. I wanted to punch Dandelion.
Not to mention all of the treasure hunts / contracts.
However, I do think the combat is a game changer. Most rpg is simple button mashing. I really like having to use a bit of thought along with parrying and diving all over the place. Hated it when I tried Witcher 2 but I forced myself to keep at it and I really like it now.
100 hours in and I have barely touched Skellige.
One beef, the Giant quest... I had a ton of problems killing the 3 devourers to get to the giant but the giant went down with ease. I mean too easy. Hell, had more trouble with the Ice Trolls than the giant.

Yea, when I finally beat the main story, I was at 138 hours. That is insane. Still have treasure quests for the rest of the witcher gear and almost all the points of interest on Skellige. Definitely get your money's worth in this one.

Novigrad is pretty bad in that respect, but it's a nonissue before and after. Novigrad is still my favorite part of the game though. The level of detail is on par with an Assassins Creed game.

I wasn't complaining. I don't mind the go there get that quests. I loved DAI and Skyrim, was just pointing out that this game didn't reinvent the wheel when it comes to questing.
I love Novigrad too. Thank god for the auto-quest trail. The damn city is huge and it does feel more alive than any city in any game I've played. Still can't get my bearing or sense of direction in that city.

I'm at 136 hours now, according to Steam. I'd say 10 of those hours probably consisted of pausing/alt-tabbing for various things.

Depends on if you have finished the main quests on the continent, if you have then you still have a long frikkin time to go, if you hadn't then you would have an even longer frikkin time to go.
