I only put it on the notch above because the reviewer for gamespot said it was too easy on Normal. Apparently he is way better than me.
I was able to play for about two hours last night, started on the normal setting because the description says something along the lines of..."enjoys a challenge." I was thinking to myself this morning, "you know this is much easier than Witcher 2."
I'll probably crank it up a notch next time I fire the game up.
Still in White Orchard, been playing at a prodding pace, but I'm really enjoying it.

I'm just running around in the second area. It's quite large compared to White Orchard

Agreed. Text size is fricking tiny

frick, the writing is good in this game
I've been real impressed with writing and voice acting.

I'm on hard difficulty, I've only died a couple times. Don't really find it difficult. I got all the places of power. Actually explored every fricking question mark in white orchard. Got two badass serpentine swords though had to pay like 1,000 Oren for two emerald dusts

White Orchard is cake. I started dying when I was fighting 9s and 10s in the second area.
I came across a level 20 monster....one hit killed me.

#TheWitcher3 suffers from the same dissonance as e.g. #RedDeadRedemption. Main story clashes with all side quests.
This has to be a joke....the side quests in Red Dead were the best of any game to date. The one with the guy in the suit who represented God or whatever was brilliant.
Also, the side quests are just always going to be RPG's so I don't see why people still bitch about them.

Two of the barons guards near ciri's room just went through the whole "it's time, wake up the gimp" dialogue from pulp fiction
I wonder how many hidden references there are.
That said I went through all the white orchid questions marks and I got the recipe for the serp silver sword but I didn't have close enough or end to buy the emerald dust

Once you do, let me know if your sword appearance changes. I upgraded both my steel and silver to the serp sword, but only the Steel updated to look like it in game.

I heard this too and I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it

I did hear in early dialogs where Geralt said "I'm a freak too" and it cracked me up.
There's so many references that when I hear them I'm thinking "Wait, was that a reference to ____?"

The NPC voice acting in both cut scenes and random dialogue has been great but Geralt's voice acting during conversation dialogue has been pretty lack luster IMO.
I just try to think of it as "He gives zero fricks, where's his money... Is Geralt Brady gonna have to chock a wench?"

This is the worst part of the game so far. I really can't see shite.

Hawg, could you fill me in on what happened between the end of 2 and the start of 3? I fell like there is a lot of story I am missing. Maybe in the spoiler thread if people didn't finish 2?
Also, I felt pretty awesome after the first area, so in the 2nd I saw a skull mob (Alghoul) and said "Ain't nobody telling me who I can't fight". fricking thing jumped like 3 miles across the map and killed me in 1 hit... but really, I feel like I won the fight.

I know what you mean. I got in a fight last night with a bear, and then some wolves decided to jump in. I landed a lot of good licks in there. Waiting to hear back from the judges on the final score. I feel I was KO'd after the final bell.

I only started reading about a week ago. have only been able to read the first book and about a quarter of the third book
1. The Last Wish (short story collection)
2. Sword of Destiny (short story collection)
3. Blood of Elves
4. Time of Contempt
5. Baptism of Fire
6. The Swallow's Tower
7. Lady of the Lake
the third book does tell you a lot about ciri. the first book tells you how she was destined for the witcher

Pretty much all these books can be found by looting the bookshelves in the emperor's castle, just fyi. If they were going to make me where those crappy clothes and shave my beard, I'm taking there books.

Depends on how many hugs you threw. The most hugs wins. Fighting is for pussies, hugs are for badasses.

Oh I took their books. One thing I wished had been held over from the other games was how if you read a book it would indicate that a new entry had been made in the bestiary, a new quest had been added, etc. Now it's just notifications when you get a new recipe.
