Lydia seems to do just fine with the ebony armor I crafted for her, even though I met her at level 7. I do reload whenever she dies.
She totally saved my arse when fighting the pyromancer. She would do damage with the staff, kneel, then I would heal her, she would do more damage, etc. It was like having a better atronach. I was extremely shocked to find out that he wasn't immune to fire and me spamming fireballs and lydia spamming the fireball throwing staff took him out in no time once he got cornered. Pissed me off that he kept healing so much and two of his fireballs was death.

I don't see how people get along without followers. Maybe it's because I'm not powerleveling, but there have been a few instances were they were essential.

Unrelenting Force + 2H weapons
I've put a lot of perk points into increasing the damage I can do with a 2H sword. My armor rating is high enough where I can get them off balance a bit with UF then take a couple power swings and bash their skulls in. The damage they do to me is minimal

Even with magic resistance armor, without a follower or atronach, the pyromancer was able to kill me with ease. When I went back and grabbed Lydia from my house and went there, I was able to just take him out.
Not to mention her unlimited carrying capacity and it seems silly not to use companions.

Oh in most instances I am fine. 2hand+ conjuration works great. But when you're up against constantly spawning draugr thralls and wights and a boss.....

I haven't been in that type of situation much except for once early on in my game.
What conjuration spells do you use?
ETA: That time, the draugr seem to come out of the crypts one at a time, and they would go down with just a regular swing of the sword. Also, if the boss is what's causing them to spawn, I would concentrate on him first. UF level 3 him up against a wall then run up to him and smash the shite out of him while he is trying to get up.

Draw them back into a smaller area/tunnel you came from/around a corner and fight like that.. and have good reflexes to press tab when you're about to die
but then again I just spam shitloads of destro spells into them.. which is fun.
Does remind me of a great time. Killed a dragon at that dawnstar place - the entire town came out to stare at it after I quenched my soul thirst and as they were walking down the path back to down I pressed F5 and launched 4-5 dual cast ice-storms and a fire breath into the crowd. Fun as hell + like 3 destro skillups :haha:

I stopped using followers around level 10 I'm 39 now, they just frick up my sneaking. I did miss Lydia a little bit do I made her a full set of dragon plate with enchantments. She 'dies' after like 3 arrows. There's no way she leveled with me.

My firebolt costs 1 magicka..
my incinerate/ice spear is about 8-9.. well it will be as soon as I get that expert perk (need to level up once or twice more)
So no I'm usually fine.. although I really need some conjuration/alteration perks.. summon dramora lord = all of my mana.

Only official announcement is that a patch is coming on the 28th for the console users, can't find any info on what just downloaded.

From what I've read the PC patch today was just an update to make it so that you can't run the game without Steam running.

I'm on PS3, so as soon as you mentioned a patch I was all over it. We need this upcoming patch badly.
