That's pretty frustrating, but the luck tends to even out eventually if you play enough games.
Sometimes you get carried, sometime you carry. Sometimes you get a thrower or toxic player, sometimes the other team DCs, it all depends.
I had 69 Elims and like 27-28K dmg as Pharah in a KOTH game that I lost a few months ago

Even at Diamond level, its hard as hell to get good comp teams 3-4 games in a row. Can only imagine what silver and gold is like. Best bet is to find a group of 3 to bring you up.

Had a pretty good run in the placement games, though one of them was thrown by a player (seriously, the guy said he would only play Sombra [and poorly] unless the team played what he said they should).
So, finished 7-3, then 1-2 after ending placement... but ended up with a higher score than I started with. Weird. Two close losses and an obliteration of the other team, I suppose, is why.
Oh, and another weird thing - my winning % so far with Symmetra is 89%. She is not my main :/

The placements don't make sense to me...not sure they even matter.
On my second account went 8-2 and played pretty well but ranked about 100 less than I finished last season

Pretty much by design. Blizz wants you to feel like you are climbing in the early part of the Season.
Placed over 200 points lower after going 4-4-2 in Placements. The next two games I played I gained around 40-50 SR tho.
You should quickly get back close to your S4 rank bc most of your matches you will get paired with people with a higher MMR.
