I started playing again to pass the time, playing solo is like banging my head against the wall continuously.

I don't know if it's me, or bad luck, or what, but I always end up hovering around the 2100 mark. Go on a hot streak, then a cold one. A good Pharah need at least some healing. Ask for a Zen for harmony orb or Mercy to help pocket you. Basically when I Pharah on gold/plat I'll just switch unless the team has 2 healers.
If your team is solo healing with Lucio you have no chance. Ana solo healing is not a great person to pair unless she has OP aim to hit you from far away. Make sure you are calling out your need for heals if you are carrying DPS for your team.
It's good that you know when to switch tho.

All good points. I do tend to swap off of her, especially if the party has a pressing need.

I will say that watching this guy level down to the bottom tier of Overwatch made me feel better about any of my own shortcomings ~laughs~

Sounds like your best bet is to duo-queue with a Zen or Mercy

He's the best character in the game so I think learning him is essential. Speed Boost is one of the most powerful effects in OW. It lets you escape from opponent ults (DVA, Mcree, Hanzo, etc), stops enemies from escaping, and pushes through chokes, and helps reinitiate attack from your spawn to get back in the fight quicker.
You can also abuse the "amp it up" by switching quickly from heal to speed to get affects of both simultaneously.
If you are an aggressive player you can get lots of boop kills on KOTH maps. He is basically just a pain in the arse for the other team to deal with because of mobility. He's best on attack and KOTH - defense is probably his weakest game mode.

It depends. Since Season 3 is ending soon I'll play a lot more Comp in the next few weeks to try to rank up before the season ends.
I actually Arcade more than Quick Play bc the games are more competitive at my rank. Funny how lootbox incentives cause people to try-hard

what's the benefit of ranking up in competitive mode?
I've only ever played just a handful of comp matches...
